Mere disagreement is not considered hate.

    But enough about conservative Christians.

Nice deflection, but no. What has been scriptural teaching and normal societal structure since the beginning of time is now "hateful" to some who do not understand. That's why it must be squelched, not merely disagreed with.

But it is. Look on any group where people speak, and anyone who ever says anything biblical about many topics, but specifically sexual morality is shouted down as a "hater", not told merely, "Well, I don't agree with that." Try saying that you think a man and woman are one for life in some arenas, for example, and let the attacks begin.

Some Biblical teachings, especially about sexuality, are hateful in the modern era. The New Testament pushes Paul's misogyny.

Interpretation of that Sta Matthew quote appears to be the sole and doubtful reference to sex in the Gospels.

And who in the Old Testament was it who offered his daughters to to any man in the street if he would give up sodomy? That is hateful if anything is.

Christians of a certain stripe should learn that there is more to morality than mere parroting of scriptural 'authority'.

Oh very much yes. Every little perceived slight against Christianity or any time that it is treated as one among many religions in a pluralistic secular country spurs screams of persecution. Any disagreement can't be honestly reaching a different conclusion its because one hates what is being preached.

Christianity instructs us to avoid those people.

I agree. Christians should save themselves before attempting to save others.

Not that I am aware of. That's reading certain passages very much out of context.

Scriptural teaching is that homosexual acts are sinful. Most of the rest of the stuff preached by religious conservatives about homosexuality is not scriptural, (or even factual) and is indeed hateful.

"Normal society structure" is false. There have been many societies with varying degrees of acceptance of homosexuality. Western Anglo-American culture does not define normality for everyone.

What do you consider "believing differently" consists of?

Yes, that is indeed scriptural teaching.

What would be the "rest of the stuff preached ...about homosexuality"? I don't get it. What is being taught that is not scriptural and is hateful?

It is not 'the rest of the stuff' for me. The scriptural stuff is enough - and is hateful. It all comes from the Old Testament and from St Paul. The Gospels have nothing to say on the subject.

What people do together is nobody's business but their own. It is presumptuous for one lot of people to presume to dictate to another lot who do not share their beliefs.

For instance that homosexuality is nothing but a wicked lifestyle choice and is not innate in any way, or that homosexuals are predators trying to recruit our children, things like that.

    And that it is 'unnatural'.

Why have Christians taken it upon themselves to be the universal arbiters of moral behaviour? Let them live by their rules and leave the rest of us to set and live by our own. I am much more exercised by the way Christians have traditionally put men before women in every aspect of life. The greatest affront in contemporary America is the attitude to abortion prevalent among Christians.

Over there, you can literally be arrested for not using someone's "preferred pronouns" on Twitter. The U.K. is an Anarcho-Tyranny dystopic tale of caution for the West.

Do you have any examples of someone being arrested just for using a wrong pronoun? Because when you guys say something like that, then I feel like you're being intentionally misleading and there is more to the story.

And you could just use the preferred pronoun like a decent person. It's really not that hard.

I would refrain from preaching against homosexuality. Because homosexuality is being legalized and is such a hot topic these days.

Probably better to use sexual immorality when preaching on such matters. After all, homosexuals only account for about one percent of the population. Why pay them undue attention.

I would prefer to preach against the widespread sins, such as gluttony, gambling, love of money, worldliness. The churches are swimming in these sins.

There's nothing decent about submitting to reality-denying pronoun bullies.

Ironically, if they didn't go about demanding it in the most obnoxious ways possible, I'd be much more inclined to accommodate them.
