JERUSALEM – On the heels of what it views as a Hezbollah victory against the Jewish state, Syria is forming its own Hezbollah-like guerilla organization to fight Israel in hopes of "liberating" the Golan Heights, an official from Syrian President Bashar Assad's Ba'ath party told WorldNetDaily yesterday.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Syria learned from Hezbollah's military campaign against Israel the past month that "fighting" is more effective than peace negotiations with regard to gaining territory.

He said Syria's new guerilla force would be trained by Hezbollah leaders.

"Syria is very serious about establishing this new guerilla force," the official said.

Exactly what I said would happen.

Any show of mercy, or restraint, or goodwill, on the part of the West is regarded as weakness by the Islamofascists. It is viewed as just another tool to exploit to push their own agenda through. The UN and the West have this screwy idea that the Islamofascists think exacty like we do---that they want peace, and prosperity, and balmy co-existance.

They don't. They want to destroy us. They do not want to co-exist with us, they do not want peace with us, they don't want to stop at anything less than a total world Islamic domination. So the UN offers them a big toothpaste smile and handshake and says to the TV cameras, "There now, see? They're not such bad people. They can be negotiated with, and can be trusted to keep their word."

Which is exactly the same mistake that Neville Chamberlain made with Hitler. "There now, see? Hitler isn't such a bad chap. He can be trusted to keep his word; after all, he's a gentleman---the old school tie, and all that sort of thing, you know. This means peace in our time."

But Chamberlain didn't understand that Hitler wasn't a gentleman who could be trusted to keep his word---he was a nasty little street thug who would lie through his teeth to get what he wanted. And you have precisely the same situation with the Islamofascists. The only thing these people understand is force.

Syria to form its own Hezbollah
of course - this is what any thinking army does when they find a battle method that is so hugely successful - winning strategies are always duplicated :(

imitation is the sincerest form of praise......

The implication of course is that they have nothing to do with the current Hezbollah which is laughable in itself.

I guess Israel's "war on terror" is working just as effectively as Bush's is...

There's two choices as I see it. Wait for them to train dig in and arm up, or, .............................

Some would see three choices, the UN could draw up some papers and vote on it, give it a number, something like huffing and puffing resolution number ................(1000's)

This is laughable! Do you even know what the Ba'ath party is founded on? you speak of "islamo-fascist" this made up word that makes no sense. When the Syrian government is probably the exact opposit of what your imaginary defines as "islamo-fascist". Ba'ath party was actually co-founded by a Christian, and has nothing to do whith religions.

The only thing this shows, is how non effective the US an Israeli "war on terror" is violence begets violence. As long as Israel will be a violent state, it's oponents will react with violence.

The golan hights ARE occupied territory by Israel. If Israel doesn't want a second Hezbolah, then they should just give back that peice of labd that was nerver theirs in the first place.

Mm-hmm, and what other land does Israel have that was "never theirs in the first place?"

You just illustrate that there will be no peace with mulsim countries until they are dealt a crippling military defeat.

I know that the Ba'ath party and officials therein have often espoused virtues that don't make a lot of sense considering the background and ideals of the party. Both the Assad family and Saddam Hussein are guilty of this.

Yup, Israel would be a lot safer if they would just kick back and let Hizbollah lob rockets into Haifa. Fighting them is only going to make things worse...

Isn't Hizbollah's argument that none of Israel was theirs in the first place?

Israel's creation was illegitimate, and on that Hezbollah and other organisation are correct. But Israel exist today, and most israeli are born there without asking for anything. so today Israel has a right to exist.

Hezbollah will not fight Israel if lebanon gets back the cheeba farms and the thousands of lebanese prisoners detained in the shin beth prisons...

Syria will not fight Israel if it gets back the golan hights.

It is Israel's greed for land, and the treatment of arab israeli as second class citizens that cause all the trouble.

What most arabs would like to see is ONE state combining both Israel and Palestinians. A state like Lebanon, not based on religion or ethnicity.
If Israel wants a 2 state solution it must be with fairness.

Today Israel is acting like a spoiled little kid. (The US being it's momy and daddy)

And so Israel should give Hizbollah exactly what it wants because Hizbollah is lobbing artillery rockets at its civilians? I thought the whole reason Israel quit its occupation a few years back was so that negotiations could resume on topics such as these without being under the threat of an armed Hizbollah.

And the Golan Heights are a prime high ground from which to organize ground offensives and artillery strikes against Israel. Given the Israeli experience in 1948 and 1973 and heavy Syrian support for operations that murder Israelis, it's pretty easy to see why Israel doesn't want to give it back.

If Israel's so greedy for land, why did they give up Sinai again? They could have fought off another Egyptian assault pretty easily, so why were they willing to give up such prime real estate for peace if they're so obsessed with land? Arab Israelis actually vote for who leads their nation, how many Syrians can say that?

And if Arabs want a one state solution with Israelis and Palestinians living together, why have they attacked Israel to destroy it on so many occasions and how come they have sponsored the murder of Israelis so many times over the years? Do you really think Israelis should see a one state solution as viable under the threat of death?
Ashur said:

Israel is trying to stay safe while showing that it will not negotiate under the threat of its existence. Expecting Israel to roll back an occupation and release prisoners while its civilians are under the threat of murder from above is simply ludicrous.

 now it seems to me that there was another country in which the Ba'ath party was in power - and their laws, leaders and actions were definitely benign [right?????]..... come on, some one help me out with this one - seems like it started with an "I" and was 4 letters..... and the leader had his own nearly private army called the Republican Guard.....

the Hiz b'allah is ALL about religion - their version of Islam - their name, Hiz b'allah, literally means "party of god"

Speaking of the Golan Heights; Syria really resisted Israel, closed it's borders with them when Israel captured the Golan Heights. My question is how come Syria did not show such a fierce resentment to Turkey when the Turks captured the Hatay province? The border between Syria and Turkey is still open.
