The water carriers call this trolling, but if that were the case, you wouldn't have Fox News publishing the story as an actual event. It's all about pushing out lies and propaganda and pretending as if you're just "reporting the news." It doesn't matter if you issue a retraction, it's about pushing the lie to smear your political opponents. They support this dishonesty because they're simply water carriers for a liar they lionize.

If memory serves, it took about 36 hours for evidence of it being a stunt to come out, during which time several news outlets reported it as if it was a deadly serious event.

...But because it makes AOC look bad, it's retroactively the media lying about things.

Thanks for the explanation. I looked at Fox and they reported the woman as being deranged and not as an AOC constituent.

That’s not how Tucker Carlson portrayed it. But that’s the point, claim the lie is an opinion or for entertainment while maintaining a more cautious stance with your news reporting.

This is good and all if people really separate the two, but many of their viewers don’t. Their “entertainers” know this, yet they keep pushing the lie as quickly as possible. Responsibility would be seeing a woman saying we should eat babies and recognizing at as someone with mental health problems or trolling and not putting it out there in the first place.

Reinstate the Fairness Doctrine. That would solve all these problems.

    ...No more fake news.
    ...No more "entertainment news"
    ...No more polarized politics.

You can't go wrong with it.

Kind of hard to tell what she is - what passes for political discourse in those circles is really beyond parody. You could almost be forgiven for thinking it was in earnest.

    That's hardly surprising.

Conservative television and radio has become little more than part entertainment, part religious ideology.

Lionizing Liars would be a great band name.

I'd calling this trolling but back when Johnathan Swift did it, it was considered cutting political satire and a serious philosophical commentary on ethics.

I guess times have changed and you can't expect as much insight from people anymore.

People shouldn't give the alt right ammunition that allows them to spear the Dems as baby-killers, even if it was meant as a joke.

Whether you think it was a troll or a joke, or satire, or a mentally ill person, it raises the question of how far we will go to save the climate. Bernie at the Climate town hall already indicated that abortion plays a role in controlling human population for the sake of the climate, and suggested reinstating funding overseas for birth control and reproductive care. This particular town hall participant intentionally went beyond that line several steps to ensure revulsion on both sides, instead of only one.

For those who see the unborn as human life, abortion funding with our tax dollars for climate control is about as garish as suggesting that we kill children and eat them for climate control.

Most people realize that AOC, etc. are not in fact proposing killing and eating babies, and neither are her followers. That is why it is satire. It is a double standard. They allow mothers who abort babies to be climate heroes, but not mothers of already born babies. If babies can be aborted for the climate, why can babies already born not be sacrificed for the climate? If preventing future carbon footprints is fine, why would it not be fine to use the carbon invested in an already born baby to feed a current human, saving on cows, impossible whoppers, etc.?

Surely there are some mothers out there who missed their chance to abort, and are in tough financial situations, bad family situations, etc. Instead of continuing to raise another human that will emit carbon they could eliminate a financial burden and help the environment.

It is meant to be absurd. The hope is that it will still be absurd in a few years.

It wasn't a joke, it was someone from the right attending the event that did this. It has even been claimed by a right wing group.

At least this time it isn't only Irish Babies!

If that were the case, the right-wing would not have presented the story as truth until the group behind it claimed responsibility. It's about spreading misinformation and lies.

I can see you're still carrying that water, it must be tiresome for the shoulders. Remember, lift with your legs.

That is interesting. I didn't defend any news outlet that reported it as true. Just the opposite, I said most realize that AOC is not advocating that, which is what makes the satire work. You may want to tailor your favorite water-carrying analogy to the actual post.

I said that people opposed to abortion were helping others to know how they feel by taking it the next step.

No, it really is true that killing babies in the womb is bad, and we wish people felt the same way about it as they do about killing children already born.

I can see that you don't want to admit what I actually said, which is that we do not think AOC is for killing of infants. We just wish she also didn't want to kill people in the womb.

Now if you are charging me with carrying water for unborn babies, OK.
