Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin has set up a special tip line for parents to report schools that are teaching their kids “divisive” critical race theory.

The Republican touted a special new “Help Education” email address late Monday that he said will help enforce his first executive directive in office banning the controversial teaching method.

Youngkin sets up tip line to report schools teaching CRT
considering that most people don't have a clue what CRT entails it should produce some interesting calls

CRT is an attack against all of our children, it is a Marxist spinoff that if unchecked will destroy America. Schools in Virginia for now are going to teach advanced classes, and hopefully the racists will not be able to succeed in the future.
Virginia Scraps CRT Program Critics Said Would Have Destroyed Math Education (shorenewsnetwork.com)

From your link: "CRT holds that America is fundamentally racist yet teaches people to view every social interaction and person in terms of race, and whose adherents pursue “antiracism” through the end of merit, objective truth and the adoption of race-based policies."
Wrong on all counts. Thank you for the fine example that most don't have a clue as to what CRT entails

Virginia were always teaching advanced classes.

from your link: "“Thankfully, the Youngkin administration with Superintendent Jillian Balow and Assistant Superintendent Elizabeth Schultz have eliminated the Virginia Math Pathways Initiative, which was going to deny students advanced math in middle school. This war on merit must end,” Nomani added. “Our schools must be places for all children to be challenged academically and grow. We expect this is just the first step in rolling back the damage that has been done by the insidious ideology of critical race theory and its destruction of education in the name of ‘equity.’”

From the Virginia Department of Education, released April 23, 2021:
"The initiative allows students to take advanced mathematics classes according to ability and achievement, but it doesn't dictate how and when students should take these courses. That decision will come from students and school divisions based on individual learning needs. "

which is pretty much the opposite of what your link claims.

Yes, it's time people wake up. Why a tip line if CRT isn't being taught or there is no racism?

Sounds like the old Soviet tactic of using informers to report anyone who criticized the government.

The government used it against the parents who spoke up at school board meetings, yes it is a leftist tactic, I'd bet that why's he's doing it. Fighting fire with fire. You have to stand up to these authoritarians.
Exactly how did the government use it against parents who spoke up? Got any evidence along with the claims?

Then label the teaching of that kind of junk what you want too. The term isn't the issue - the content is the issue.

Saying that isn't CRT is besides the point. If this type of thing is being pushed in schools? Whatever you want to call it...it shouldn't be in schools. I would be calling to complain if my kids (whom thankfully are out of school at this point) came home, and told me we need to view interactions like this. I don't care what the term is - or isn't.

That's silly.

You going to claim the government will come and get them - to torture, maim and then kill them too?

If you have a point - make it. Show how it is a bad idea - dramatic comparisons like this does nothing.

Government has hotlines for a number of things. Child Abuse hotline, Reporting Crime, etc. Are those OLD soviet tactics using informers too? No. Just because you don't like this idea of this hotline doesn't make it 'Stalin's informers' either.

The key thing is that Critical Race theory is not taught K-12, and is actually something discussed in law schools. Most have no idea what it is. So instead, they will report any discussion in US history class about slave ownership or Jim Crow laws as causing division and CRT rather than historical facts.

It is not to actually report crimes. It is just complaining about a viewpoint - like people calling in about other Soviets if they disagree with communism.

Why don't you explain what CRT actually entails so we all will be better educated on the subject? That is if you have a clue as to what it entails.

Only it would be citizens informing the government on the actions of the government. Not citizens informing the government on the actions of other citizens.

No, it is citizens complaining about other citizens (teachers) for what they perceive as CRT but is simply historical fact.

Anyway, trolls are flooding the tip line.

I am all for parent involvement. Once C. Everett Coop, surgeon general under Reagan, laid out how schools should teach about HIV and AIDS, parents were in an uproar, but most school districts went over it with the parents and refined what was taught. Things calmed down.
I think that will happen here as parents realize what is actually taught.

Your comment about how they will get calls about History class speaking of slave ownership or Jim Crow laws? That isn't what the parents were concerned about. If you are going to criticize the parents and their concerns? You might want to listen to them instead of buying into the talking points on the opposing side.

Civil War, Slavery, Jim Crow have all been taught in school - all the back to when I was in school. So, when people claim they want to stop us from teaching history? I want to ask when did they stop and WHY did they stop? Who's smart idea was that? When did they stop teaching historical facts?

That approach to this issue - claiming we need to teach historical facts now all of sudden? That's a diversion away from the concerns of the parents, or it just shows how they can't use their ears for listening I'm afraid.

So what are they teaching that makes you think CRT is being taught? What examples do you have?

What makes you think they stopped teaching about slavery and Jim Crow?

It does matter what it is called because doing so is a lie
