Not you personal you, general you.

You have never seen a road side shrine before? It's not aways a catholic who does these things.

And you don't have funerals for people? memorial services where you display the persons picture with flowers and candles?

Why do we do these things? Because this is what human beings do.

It's called honoring the memory of people who are dear to us and there is no command against doing that.

You keep insisting that we make graven images out of stone and worship it or the person it represents as a god and that's' just laughable is what that is.
but flowers are SO different than the statues in churches. That is what I mean. NO, I don't do that. Yes, been to funerals obviously. BUT I am not going to run out and make a statue of them...sorry. Yes, nice to remember them..but to 'talk' to them, etc...nope. Sorry. NOT pleasing to the Lord.

Yes you are right, I am just glad the Catholic and Orthodox Churches put God first in all things. If we did put the saints and martyrs first it would be idoltry, if we loved a book more then we love the Living God then that would be idoltry as well. These are things that we must be on alert not to slip into

In fact there is a command to do so, for it is love to venerate those made in the ikon of God.

Can you show me what command from the Bible that you are referring to?

I will bow out of this conversation now. I am tired...and don't want to argue. you are brothes and sisters in the Lord...not seperated (by my way of thinking anyway) and I will just agree to disagree with what you say here. That is ok. Eternity is a long time to hang together..and then NONE of this arguing will matter.

yah, I have been reading through the thread. I can see why people are angry and upset. BUT 1,000's of threads beating the same dead horse. It is getting OLD for everyone. WHY can't we just agree to disagree...and love Jesus the way HE deserves. THIS is doing NO one any good..and NOT pleasing to God.

Amen!:amen: I couldn't have said it better myself. It would be nice if would could all just make a pact to treat each other with dignity and respoect no matter what the denom.

Worship is in the heart, you are not qualified to judge another's heart.
But friend, I am not. Just look at some of the 'fruit' of these threads....I am not judging anyones heart. BUT the proof is in black and white in these pages and pages of arguing...

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

What proof, that we adore Saints, above God ?

You bear false witness if that is your point !

What do you do when you visit the grave of someone you loved? You ca not tell me, you do not have thoughts directed tot he person that loved. I'll never believe it because human nature is human nature.

and I've been to the non catholic funeral- people, when they miss their loved one will talk to them as they lie in the coffin.

and it was said way earlier in the thread that we are bad for adorning statues. Well, non Catholic do the same when they adorn a person's memory or picture with flowers.

It's a show of respect and you do it, but we're wrong for dong to religious people in the Church.

mhm...yeah ok. Know what? that is ok. you are reading the same threads I am..go back and look.
anyone who you have seen who worshipped a saint and took them as their God, was not a RC, EO or any of the apostolic faiths. I promise you that.

If by some rare chance they were, they are in error and this does not mean the church or the EO teach them to do that.

sorry friend,,,hate to disappoint you..BUT I do NOT go to my loved ones graves. For a couple of reasons. They are in another country...I live in Canada now, and my family are in the States. But even when I was close to home..I didn't. Sorry, not something I do. Gives me the willies.

You are welcome Rehmeil. I honestly mean that.

Oblio...I have NOT born false witness against anyone. YOU are jumping the gun and getting heated up over nothing. There are plenty of people that have come and gone out of different threads that may think differently than you. I am sorry if that upsets you. The point is...there are lots of people that put LOTS of things above God....
