The United Church of Christ Community:
A forum for all members of the UCC to discuss and fellowship together.

A few things to know about the United Church of Christ, from the official site of the UCC:
  • The UCC was formed in 1957 by the union of the Evangelical and Reformed Church and the General Council of the Congregational Christian Churches of othe United States.
  • The UCC recognizes two sacraments - Baptism and Communion. Baptism is an outward sign of the grace of God. The mode of baptism can be by sprinkling, pouring or immersion. All ages can be baptised regardless of membership to the UCC.
  • Communion is a sacred memorial of a risen Christ, and is done in thanksgiving for all that God has done. Christ is truly present in this memorial. Communion is open to all regardless of membership.
  • The UCC looks to the Word of God in the Scriptures and "claims as its own the faith of the historic Church expressed in the ancient creeds and reclaimed in the basic insights of the Protestant Reformers."
  • Nationally, the UCC has favored more liberal views on civil rights, LGBT rights, woman's rights and abortion. However, each church can choose to differ on these matters. UCC congregations range from conservative Christian to esoteric Christian.
