I'd say I'd take your word for it, but... honestly, I can't, at this point.

There's four of you saying what you just said, not exclusive to this subject.
I'm at peace knowing that you all know I'm right :)

Why should a Jew be forced to celebrate Christmas, anyway?

The Jews have a lot of clout in the media and the entertainment industry.
It's only fair, since they don't want to actually be real on pressing issues.

I'm not antisemitic, I'm just speaking from reality.

America is a predominantly Protestant country. There is really something to be lost in taking away Christmas decorations.

That's why people are angry.

Wait, I thought this was a non story that the media made up?

Reindeer and snowflakes have more to do with celebrating Winter Holidays than anything peculiarly Christian.

That's why people are angry.
It seems more like they are angry already and looking for an excuse, any excuse however absurd, to vent.

Normally, business decisions are made with increase in profits or reduction in costs, in mind. Or both. I suspect that is what primarily drove the push for the simpler and IMO, classier designs for their cups this year.

And that's not even getting into the fact that, as a private business, they are under no obligation to put anything on their cups.

Being numb to political correctness is a direct symptom of social apostasy. I don't agree with the amount of sensitivity the US has with these things, but at the very least, they are aware of what's going on. And that is important.

Don't underestimate the American Christian, that's all I got to say. We are empowered here :)

I don't underestimate American Christians, no. I lived in America, whilst on a scholar exchange programme, last year. None of the Christians I befriended, raise a fuss about the cups, either. It's not about being politically correct, no. It's about prioritising what is important, and what is trivial.

You are the one making an excuse. The holiday, it doesn't matter if it's the Germanic Odin or fig trees- the fact is that it is ALL fundamentally a Christian holiday. Our whole history dictates that, to call it something else is being desperate.

America is a predominantly Protestant country.
Only when it suits you to say it is. When that predominantly Christian majority starts supporting things like SSM, you guys quickly change your tune and start lamenting how apostate Christians in America have become.

There is really something to be lost in taking away Christmas decorations.
Not really. Starbucks seems to be doing just fine, even with Christians.

Oh dear, that is more absurd - and desperate - than I even thought. Kind of selfish, greedy even, isn't it, to simply declare that all winter holidays belong exclusively to Christianity?

I don't know how this is so hard to understand. It's been Christmas for 1700 years, how are you going to call it something else and say nonetheless that you aren't attacking Christianity?

It's almost humorous really. Do you think you are that invisible?

Great -- now how about answering my question: Why should a Jew be forced to celebrate Christmas, anyway?

No reaction... At least they were good enough to answer.

Was your initial comment serious, or were you just trying to gauge their reaction to the apparent phenomenon?

I was just wanting to let them know that their holiday cup idea was a terrible idea.

Oh, I see. I totally misunderstood.

What is it that you find offensive about it?

Being that this country is historically of a Christian culture, it's outlandish to have the official title of the season be something other than 'Christmas'.

Even more outlandish to have that "official title" be bestowed by a corporation.

Even more outlandish when the corporation in question is run by a Jew, advertised with a creature from Greek mythology, and selling a product that was invented by Muslims.

But what really tips the scales is the fact that the corporation is question is still celebrating Christmas... only without the pagan accouterments they used to.

I don't know how this is so hard to understand. It's been Christmas for 1700 years, how are you going to call it something else and say nonetheless that you aren't attacking Christianity?

Is Starbucks calling it something else?
