I was offered baklava. Someone tell me what it is. :p

It is pastries made by the hands of angels! Manna from heaven!

In between layers of phyllo dough are layers of nuts with cinnamon and honey and oozing with goodness! It's wonderful!

That is my one regret about my time in Atlanta. The last three days I was there I was sick (still am) so I didn't get to go to my favorite Greek restaurant to have some of my favorite Greek desserts. :sigh:

Fortunately, I did get to have some baklava at the Greek Wedding I went to while I was down there.

(MOST BEAUTIFUL WEDDING I'VE EVER BEEN TO!)

The videographer has already put together a "trailer" for the Wedding Video. You can view it here: My Big Fat Greek Wedding |

It's AWESOME!!!

(The Wedding was held at Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Marietta, GA.)

EDIT: The bride did not chose the title "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" -- that is the name of the blog post by the videographer. Click on it though, I promise awesomeness!!

Can you make Baklava? Or is it better bought?

I've never seen it around here.

What is Kataifi?

It can be made at home, but you have to have patience to deal with phyllo dough (it tears easily, and must be kept covered and moist or else it will dry out and will be ruined)..............Yeah, it's probably better to buy it.

Kataifi is, shredded phyllo with nuts cinnamon and honey:

My Greek relatives (in laws) make it fresh. It is so good. Much better than store-bought.
We enjoy it for Christmas and Pascha.
