So I know this isn't a long term diet, just kind of a quick fix. But has any one tried it? How were the results? Would you try it again?

I don't know Sunrise. I don't deny the fact that the diet perhaps works wonderfully. However, in my opinion it is not the healthiest way to diet neither is it satisfying knowing that what's coming next is nothing more than another bowl of cereal or a special K snack bar along with some fruits of veggies. The reason why i say it is not healthy is because of the ingredients. It is fascinating that yesterday i was about to buy that cereal since i have not eaten any cereal for the past month since i started a stricter diet for weight loss. I read the ingredients and here is what i found [IMG]

Yeshuamysalvation > High Fructose Corn Syrup is the reason why we have so many diabetics in our country Sunrise. Besides, with my diet i loss 21 pounds in three weeks. I say that is far more than the 6 pounds you loss every two weeks on the Special K diet. If you want to know how i do it just let me know and i'll give you some insights that might be very helpful..

    Hi again Sunrise.
To be perfectly honest. I had a diet for the past 6 months that kept me pretty healthy. However it did not help me take off some the unwanted weight i wanted to take off no matter how much i exercised, and trust me, i worked out pretty hard. See Sunrise, with further investigation, i found out that weight loss begins with what one puts into there body and not from all the efforts in exercising. Some foods are healthy no doubt, but they are not very helpful when one wants to shed off a few pounds. Take breads for instance. Bread was that one food that kept me from shedding those 21 pounds i wanted to take off, and it was whole wheat bread which has all types of healthy claims everywhere including weight loss claims if i'm not mistaken. I love breads far to much so rather than discontinuing breads, i replaced them. I researched that sprouted whole grain breads are not fattening and are far healthier than the breads we normally consume. I eat sprouted whole grain bread daily, even a few times a day and i continue losing weight rapidly. You will find sprouted whole grain breads on the frozen section of your nearest grocery store. I found it in the Publix two blocks from where i live..

My diet does not consist of eating foods i don't enjoy Sunrise. I only buy the veggies i enjoy in a grocery store called whole foods where they sell healthy organic foods. I replaced regular rice with either brown or Jasmine. We buy Jasmine here because my Mom can't stand brown rice. Jasmine is good enough, so if you still buy the regular rice, replace it immediately. It is depleted of many essential minerals you need on a daily bases. For cooking use either Coconut oil or Canola, preferably Coconut oil for weight loss. Do not eat nor buy processed foods, do not eat fried or greasy foods. Stay away from cow milk really. I don't know if there is a person in this earth that loves milk more than i, but seriously speaking, i had to let that go. My brother use to tell me milk only makes you as fat as the cow. He wasn't kidding, milk could easily put a halt to your weight loss. You like eggs? Your body absorbs about 88% of the proteins in eggs. That is more than the 78% of the proteins your body absorbs from fish and far more than the 68% it absorbs from Cow meat. My strategy with eggs is to eat them with the yolk twice a week and only the white of the egg everyday if i like. I learned to check the labels of everything i am going to buy. If i see anything that is going to ruin my diet in the labels, i will not buy the product. I personally stopped buying processed juices in the stores in favor of making my own juices here at home with my juicer. Apart from the fact that my home made juices taste way better, they have also contributed in helping me take weight off. For some reason the processed juices only contribute in helping me put more weight which is not ideal. Stay away from juices and Sodas. The only drink i buy when i am thirsty and I'm working is Zephyrhills Water to keep myself hydrated.

Another thing i do is eat often. I eat every three and four hours. If it is impossible for me to eat after my four hours have past during my work hours, i take my life savers, almonds, raisins, prunes and cashews and i snack. when i get out of work i eat again. Eating often is important because it accelerates your metabolism dramatically and automatically you start shedding of pounds naturally. There is a food supplement that has provided amazing results for me Sunrise and you can also add this to your list if you'd like. It is called Amazing Grass Raw Reserved. This product has all the Super Foods your body needs on a daily bases to keep you healthy and assist with weight loss. It is even more important to take supplements as these if you are not a lover of raw green organic veggies as i am lol...

Awesome! Thank you for your advice. I never thought eating more times in a day would have that effect on your body. I assumed it would make you gain weight.

It's so hard to find any good healthy foods anymore with all the added sugar, fructose, salt, etc they inject into everything now. Glad to know there are still organic places out there.

I've never eaten jasmine rice before. I will have to try it out!

Oh, another tip. Buy un-iodized Sea Salt. The right Salt is super important for your health because it has Ionic Minerals and Trace Elements that most of us lack because of poor eating habits. See, refined salt is depleted of minerals plus it has hazardous anti cake preservatives and chemicals. This is exactly what causes blood pressure to raise. The beauty of Sea Salt is that it cooks way better than refined Salt. I told my Mom about replacing refined Salt in favor of Sea Salt years ago. It took her sometime to understand that sea salt does not have an effect on raising blood pressure. My Mom was afraid to take the risk of using more salt than just a ridiculously low amount of salt as the doctor had told her. Doctors make it seem as if salt is salt and period, there recommendation for patients suffering from high blood pressure is to reduce salt drastically. This i believe is a strategy of there's to have patients return with other health issues. If you don't consume enough salt, well you get sick and that is just that. More money for them equals the loss of your health. That way they can continue medicating you. My Mom uses a moderate amount of sea salt and has never experienced blood pressure problems from it. If she used the amount of refined salt that she uses when using sea salt, she will end up hospitalized.. Like i said earlier, Sea Salt cooks so much better, good cooks and Chefs know that secret. I consider my Mom to be a great cook and she has noticed the difference in how good sea salt cooks compared to refined salt. My Mom has not bought refined salt for years. Try it out and tell me what you think. :)

I've heard of sea salts. I will buy some and check it out

Would it be better to cut out salt altogether?

Most Americans (or anyone who eats processed foods) are in no danger of inadequate salt.

Sea salt does not need to be iodized because it already contains iodine (which prevents goiters, a thyroid disorder).

I read a really good book about salt. It's called "Salt: A World History." Informative and entertaining.

Yes, let me know. I haven't heard of a person yet that is not pleased with how it cooks.
No, bad idea. Your body needs salt, with sea salt you are getting the right salt.

Really? How are they not in any danger of inadequate salt when that is precisely what they consume by eating processed foods?

True. I read something years ago that mentioned how rare it is to find an American who is Iodine deficient considering that most of our foods contain iodine including refined salt. Have you heard or read any of this before?

Interesting. I will have to purchase that book for sure. Thanks Daisy.

A one-cup bowl of Kellogg's Special K cereal with half a cup of skim milk runs about 170 calories. Add an apple and you've got about 250 calories. This calorie reduction is what helps you to lose weight, and works no differently than any other diet. If you were to eat 170 to 250 calories of any food for two meals a day (with healthy snacks), you would see the same results. A Lean Cuisine or Healthy Choice microwave meal, for example, has about 170-300 calories, depending. Most of the time, a hot bowl of pasta is going to sound better for lunch than a cold bowl of cereal, and the result is the same.
