This one I hope it at least takes them some thinking to really get. Or at least the generation after that.

My hope is that the some day she mentions in the song will soon be history.

An interesting side note is Janis Ian got a lots of flack from the music culture over her arrangement. especially the lead in and flourish at the end.

In one way the hope than the kids in ones own family will not understand anywhere near first hand is quite possible. On a larger scale sadly they will understand all to well once they look around.
