Messiah Yeshua often referred to Himself as both The Son of God,
as well as the Son of man. Reading the use of both titles in the
Gospel of John suggest that He was as a man walking the earth,
both Son of God AND Son of man, at all times, simultaneously.
I have read some posts recently that imply that He was either/or,
depending on the context. A point open for discussion, hopefully
with scripture references.
John 3:13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven,
the Son of Man who is in heaven.
Here we read that the Son of man is is heaven, that He came down from heaven,
and has ascended into heaven. How does this relate to Messiah being the Son of God?
What I have found is that He made full claim, both publicly and privately to a few
chosen people, that He is in fact the Son of God.
While the works He performed were by the Son of man, in obedience to the
Spirit of God. So whose obedience was perfected? The Son of God?
Hebrews 5:
8 though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things
which He suffered.
9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation
to all who obey Him,
10 called by God as High Priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,”
11 of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have
become dull of hearing.
This order of Melchizedek: pertains to being Son of God, or Son of man?
Hebrews 7:
1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God,
who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,
2 to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated
“king of righteousness,” and then also king of Salem, meaning “king of peace,”
3 without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning
of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.
This position held by the Son of God. would also apply to Melchizedek,
and his relationship to God. Melchizedek was not born of flesh, but by
the Son of God, for "all things were created through Him(the Son of God),
and for Him.
Colossians 1:
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth,
visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.
All things were created through Him and for Him.
17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
Melchizedek received tithes from Abraham. On whose behalf?
The Most High God and the Son of God, by whom and for whom
he was created.
