The Senate voting on the Constitutionality of the 2nd impeachment of Trump, was them giving Trump a strong message on what grounds he should be arguing for at the trial.

The first Senate trial was a shambles with no witness or documents allowed, the second is a shambles with a verdict and pathway to that verdict been given before the trial was held.
Way to go Republicans. The party of disgrace.

I can agree to a point. But when the jurors are the victims and the witnesses it is easier to understand.

Yeah, it's very much a flawed process.

It is politics dressed up to look like a legal proceeding.

I guess it gives Congress and the Senate the opportunity to remove an elected president if they have done potentially illegal and unethical things, and it ensures that the verdict needs to be bipartisan.

But even Congress and the Senate are held to account by the public (ordinarily a good thing in a democracy) but if the president is highly popular with their base (Republican or Democrat voters) then it is difficult for members of the same party to hold this president to account.
It seems very much an exceptional circumstance where a president would remain popular with their base even if they have potentially committed high crimes (of course this cannot be tried by a qualified and trusted judge as a sitting president cannot be indicted so it may be difficult for supporters to know conclusively that their president has been behaving badly). Ordinarily I would have thought the base would turn against that president.

About half the nation consider the Democrats as the party of disgrace after the last four years of Russia, Russia, Russia.

Way to go Democrats - wanting to Remove the President through impeachment a month after he left office. Brilliance at its best.

You seem confused, they're not trying to remove him from office, they're trying to make sure he never taints one with his presence ever again.

Except for the fact that the Russian investigation was started by the FBI and continued at the insistence of the Republican acting AG. Nothing to do with the Democrats.

Impeachment is the process of accountability for the actions of a president.
Are you to have us believe that once a President has lost an election but before his/her term is up then it is a case of anything goes?

Are you really going to prosecute a burglar after he's already left your house? Come on, that's just petty at that point.

They certainly would not want to leave that up to the voters, because they are so much smarter than the voters who are so dumb that they have to be protected from making up their own minds on who should be president.

Absolutely correct in this case. This is a man who is so obviously and openly contemptuous of his own supporters that its actually embarrassing, yet still they bow at his feet like he's not just a narcissistic hustler with no morals.

Perhaps if your country stopped putting presidents literally above the law, then it wouldn't matter so much, but apparently you 'small government' types are just fine with having a king in all but name. I suppose having a supreme ruler is a form of small government..

If I've learned anything from the GOP Benghazi farce, I think you're supposed to hold hours and hours of Congressional investigations.

pssst... Kevin McCarthy is not a Juror - he is in the House, only Senators are acting as jurors.

Thought you might want to know...

Except for the fact that the Russian investigation was started by the FBI and continued at the insistence of the Republican acting AG. Nothing to do with the Democrats.

The propaganda machine is so repetitive and invasive that there are people who actually believe this. To focus solely on "Republicans", we have to ignore the thousands of hours of Democratic leadership screaming 'traitor', 'impeach', 'collusion' and dozens of other sounds bites repeated infinitum 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for four years.

COMPLETELY ignoring the established fact the whole thing was started by a unverifiable report $12,000,000 bought and paid for by Hillary. COMPLETELY ignoring the testimony of virtually everyone involved in the FISA fiasco saying that if they had the total picture at the time, they would have never started the investigation.

And that's just the beginning - but let's ignore all that....

Impeachment is the process of accountability for the actions of a president.

The House impeached the President not calling one witness - not presenting any formal debate and in less than 3 days.....

Are you to have us believe that once a President has lost an election but before his/her term is up then it is a case of anything goes?

Absolutely not and if found guilty - they should be removed from office.

This is nothing more than a continuation of political dramatics that they have been holding since the man came down the escalator. It is a power grab (that is why they are silencing opposing view points), plain and simple.

Pssst, I didn't say anything about Kevin McCarthy, so you might be getting a little confused.
