I find this very interesting maybe as some have found this OP to be an interesting topic of discussion.

I've never heard that Jesus is the mustard seed. Can you share with us how you have come to that conclusion and is there any scripture which identifies Jesus as the mustard seed ?

    Thanks !

Jesus had to be the most efficient intermediate instrument of healing ever used by God then, by far. I don’t deny that miracle healings can still take place today, but I have a very hard time believing that they have any consistency or predictability to them. Meaning especially that there’s no person who could be “Good at being an intermediate healing instrument for God” today.

The parable I quoted you. It is often quoted as a "negative" parable about the Devil corrupting the church, but that's in error.

    Quoting the KJV,

30 Then He said, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it? 31 It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; 32 but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade.” (Mark 4:30-32)

The "birds" here are indeed angels, but not demonic ones. They are angels of God, as Paul taught in Ephesians:

8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him. (Ephesians 3:8-12)

It ultimately refers to something in Daniel, but the parable is about how great the Lord would become in the earth when His church grew to full stature in Him, such that even the angels of God would receive revelation from the saints on the end-time plans of God.

Mustard seeds were very common. It was used to make illustrations with about various things. Faith of as a grain of mustard seed speaks of having very little faith. For mustard seeds are very tiny.

Now, even if you have very little faith? That's all it takes to get God to move a mountain.

That is how we know we are having God's will. For when that mountain does not move? And, it would have not taken very much faith to have it do so?

That would mean we need to take stock of our ability to reason and understand God's Word at that point. Because it would not have taken some super faith hero to have that mountain moved. Only needed a teeny tiny amount of real faith...

Actually, Genez (and greetings, btw), this is where I disagree with general teaching on the issue, and Faith teaching in particular.

Jesus compared Himself to a mustard seed to draw a comparison between how one of the smallest seeds on earth can become one of the biggest trees. But in respect to faith, He was actually scolding them for not having more faith, and marveling at things they should not have been marveling over but seeking to do similar things through a greater faith; through His kind of faith, which was not small but great.

"Oh ye of little faith" was a term often used to correct them for not being where they should have been spiritually.

God bless, and I like your glasses.

By contrast, the faith of the centurion was great, which is why Jesus publicly commended him for it:

6 Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. 7 Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8 For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 9 When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” (Luke 7:6-9)

The Finished Work of Jesus Christ is the same as, i.e, the Cross, i.e., the Blood of Jesus.

The Believer must understand that when God doesn't see the Believers heart exhibiting Faith in His beloved Son in whom He is pleased, Jesus, and the Cross of Calvary where the victory was one, we have chosen another Jesus (2 Cor. 11:4) which produces strange fire and strange incenses.

When Aaron's sons Nadab & Abihu, Priests of God, ordained of God, called by God, and anointed by God - failed to take coals of fire from the Brazen Altar (A Type of Calvary), but from another source, and put those coals of fire on the Golden Altar, which sat immediately in front of the Veil, which hid the Holy of Holies, where God dwelt between the Mercy seat and the Cherubim. They were devoured by fire from the Holy of Holies. In other words, to do such was, in effect, to bypass Calvary, which God could not tolerate.

All types of Strange fire are being offered up today in Christendom. It looks right, and it looks real, but it does not originate with the Cross. As a result, it cannot be right, and most definitely, it will ultimately be judged by God. As should be plainly and clearly obvious, the Cross is not something that can be ignored. The fire of judgment will consume the Sacrifice, i.e., "Christ," or else it will consume the individual. In other words, we go Christ's way, which is the Cross, or else we face the Judgement of God.

Victory = The Cross of Christ, i.e., The Blood of Jesus, i.e., The Finished Work

    The Way Of The Spirit
Focus: The Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:6)
Object Of Faith: The Cross of Christ (Romans 6:1-14)
Power Source: The Holy Spirit (Romans 8:1-2, 11)
    Results: Victory (Romans 6:14)

    Man's Way
    Focus: Works.
    Object Of Faith: Performance.
    Power Source: Self.
    Results: Defeat!

The only way to God is through Jesus Christ (John 14:6)...the only way to Jesus Christ is by the Means of the Cross (Luke 14:27). The only way to the Cross is a denial of self (Luke 9:23). If any person tries to come any other way, Jesus says, "they are a thief and a robber" (John 10:1).

    1. Jesus Christ is the source of all blessings.
    2. The Cross is the means by which all blessings are given.
    3. The object of our faith must be Christ and the Cross.
    4. That being done, the Holy Spirit will greatly help us.

Could this be an appeal for the Father to change His mind - if that was the case, He certainly did know the will of the Father...

Still wouldn't matter though would it? It would still signify that Jesus didn't know as an absolute what they will of God was OR could be.

I guess I was saying He did know the will of the Father in real time...

But certainly not in future time.

I note that Rom 10:17 is the Word of Christ. This to me is His living word - not the Scripture.

The Pharisees knew the Scripture backwards but did not recognise Him when He came.

We have to be careful to differentiate between the Living Word of Christ and the Scripture which is dead without Him.

How would you interpret this passage in 1 Peter ?

    1 Peter 1:23-25
23 for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For,

    “All flesh is like grass,
And all its glory like the flower of grass.
    The grass withers,
    And the flower falls off,
25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.”

And this is the word which was preached to you.-

That must have been before my time. Lol.

Well, glad I found it here. I read through Page 1 over there, and Episkopos gave you a good answer. He can usually be counted on for solid answers, though he won't always quote scripture for you.

But I needed to give that Forum a break. Too much caffeine makes Hidden not a pretty boy, Lol. A few were getting on my nerves, but it's my fault. So I figured time to dry out and maybe visit elsewhere, while I attempt to return to being a better human being again. :)

God bless, and looks like a nice fish. Where'd you catch it?

Yes the inspired Word was preached and endures forever - this is our hope and in fact you have quoted one of my favourite verses.

The scripture is a record of some of the inspired words the faithful have received but without His living word in the hearer there is no life.

His living breathed Word never fails.

We need this daily - while He uses the Book, He is not the book.

Show me again how Jesus compared himself to a mustard seed, please? Do not re-quote what you have said, for it fails to convince me. Try another approach. For if its true? I would need to see it.
