Brings to mind Putin's statement that if it were not for his relationship with Netanyahu, Russia would already be at war with Israel. Now that he is gone from power or at least not in control as Prime Minister, and Israel is bombing Hamas over incendiary baalloons, it seems plausible that an attack could come without further notice. The question is will the US go to nuclear war if Russia attacks and seems to be taking Israel?

New government in Israel, and new president in Iran, both of them far right wing. The Iranian is said to be a hardliner while the outgoing Rouhani was a moderate reformer.

as for US response?
