• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Okay. I'm having this issue where I think I'm not breathing in my sleep.

Its happening a bit more often it seems last time was Feb 20th and it happening again now.

It's like I'll have dreams where I can't breathe and ill wake up feeling breathless I guess.

I'm not overweight ... I'm okay for my weight...

Idk sometimes it feels like asthma..but it only happens during sleep never waking hours...so that's ruled out but my mom and brother suffer from asthma.

You need to get yourself to a doctor, He can order sleep study tests. I've been on a C-Pap machine for this for years now and so was my husband. Untreated this can cause all sorts of heath issues on down the road.

I think everyone is right, you need to see a doctor!

See your primary, this could be other issues as well. Being overweight is a risk factor for sleep apnea, but I have seen underweight people with it as well.

There's a book I'm reading that tells how nutrition can aid in the recovery of health problems. I've just opened it up and it says asthmatic conditions can be treated with nutrients like antioxidants, magnesium, essential fatty acids, and vitamins B12, C and E (and avoiding things that would congest the airways of course). It's The Juice Lady's Guide To Juicing For Health by Cherie Calbom if you want to pick it up, though I can't tell you for certain how accurate it is yet.

If the sleep apnea is not asthma-related, going to a doctor will give better insight (you should do that either way). In any case nutrition is very important to your health and should be looked after.

Idk I'm a bit worried I could die. Kinda worried.
Worry will just stress your body out more; it already has the apnea to deal with. Focus your mind on seeing a doctor and getting it solved right now. It will all work out.

See a doctor first. They will refer you for a sleep study. Don't worry. Apnea is not an IMMEDIATE threat to life, but over the long term is it detrimental.

I have asthma and would only recommend a doctor treat it. I almost died when I was young from it. Without medical inhalers it can be lethal.

Absolutely, but seeking to eat healthy is something everyone should do and doctors would agree. Not that OP or anyone else doesn't but if that nutrition has been linked to helping improve those conditions I don't see any reason to avoid them; these nutrients should be sought after irregardless of any health problems anyways.

Thank you. You definitely comforted me because I was thinking the absolute worst.
