The Haaretz periodical (Israel) has reported an excavation effort near the shore of the Sea of Galilee may have uncovered the ruins of ancient Bethsaida where Peter and Andrew were from:

The lost home of Jesus' apostles has just been found, archaeologists say

Previously it was thought Bethsaida was at Et Tell a few kilometers inland from the lake.
