You know what drives me nuts... serving a country that doesn't appreciate it.

So what should I do? Throw my hands up in the air and say "forget it!"

Nope... because you guys are perfectly free to not appreciate the hard work and blood and tears that all military members and their families shed because they shed them.

But I'm curious. Those of you who hate the US, why do you still live here?

If I lived someplace that I hated, I'd move without even giving it another thought.

I really like your answer...

That's a great point, there's a difference between wanting to change something (which I'm sure every one agrees) and hating a nation.

Thanks

Better? In whose opinion? And why should that opinion override the prevailing opinion of the majority of Americans?

Rake the leaves in your own back yard before you worry about my yard!

This change you are referring to. Is it the same change I see defined by supporters of the UN? As the end of US sovereignty, and the overt subversion of the US Constitution, and the placement of the US in a UN controlled world government. Is this the change you have planned for the US? If so, I say NO till the last drop of blood!!!!

I guess any physical resistence to this plan, by any Americans, will be considered the terrorism of the future. Peace, but not yet.

I think we took that post ot mean different things. There are things about our country that I would like to change. I'm sure you don't think the country is perfect either.

WHAT????? NOT Perfect???? Well, OK, maybe not. But I am kinda particula about who is going to change things and in what way and to what extent.

Feel free Gerry, but don't tell your audience you got it from a green troll boy.

Thanks, but I have long suspected that my entire audience is comprised of Green Troll Boy's. There are only or 14 that I know of anyway. Though the audience is supposed to be 50,000. Only 14 have complained so I am sure that is all of them.

So you support a fractured Earth, with hundreds of nations, death, suffering, anguish, all for your notion of national sovereignty? Fine. You and all the rest like you can have your planet, I'm going to the Moon.

Have a safe flight...

We usually do! Besides you need to get all that KRAP out of your head about no one appreciating your service. There is not a veteran in this country that does not appreciate it. I, being one of the SUPER Patriots appreciate it more than most. I deeply appreciate anyone who serves their country in any capacity.

A bunch of us got off an airplane in Los Angels after travelling a gillion miles from Hell during the Viet Nam disagreement, and was pounded by SO CALLED American citizens with ROTTEN eggs and tomato's.

There is no way to live long enough to forget that. And lets us not forget, that, had he not been assinated, Robert Kennedy was going to be President of the United States. The SAME man that during Johnson's Administration traveled all around AMERICA trying to get AMERICANS TO DONATE BLOOD FOR THE NORTH VIETNAMESE SOLDIERS.

NO, I am not crazy and you did not misread. I said soldiers for N-O-R-T-H
V-I-E-T N-A-M!!!

No, All is not right in America. Never has been and as long as the world continues, it never will be. But it is all we got, and it is the BEST there is.
Yes, I would go and do it again KNOWING I was doing it for those same people. That is what America is all about.

I would even do it so people like Sky can go around talking about how embarrased he is to be an American. If It wasn't for people like us Coastie, Sky would not be embarassed today. There would be NO America to embarrass him.

I come from a long line of military veterans. My Dad and my favorite Uncle got out of WW II in time to go and serve in North Korea. Everyone in my family as far back as I can traced served their country and did it proudly, and even though I am too old and bunged up to do it now, I would go in the morning in my present condition if they called me.

You bet your boots, I appreciate your service. I am not embarassed but PROUD to be an American. And I am PROUD of you!

No you are trying to incite a fight. It is neither a serious question nor one that requires an answer. If you do not know the answer to this question, you would not understand the answer.

Also you seem to have ENTIRELY missed the point of my post!

Gerry:

What happened thirty years ago makes me sick!

Two of my uncles went through what you went through.

It's disgusting, and nowadays, I wonder if there will ever again be a war where soldiers and sailors and marines and airmen and coasties will ever again be considered heroes.

In todays bleeding heart society, I can't see that ever happening again. And it kills me. It's so friggin easy for people to sit in their cushy offices and criticize military members on a faceless, identityless forum, but do they have the fortitude to go out and stand up for something they believe in like the men that they so fiercely criticize?

But that's a moot point, because that isn't the problem. The problem is that it scares the heck out of me that the kids that are in high school today are going to someday run this country. The vast majority of them probably couldn't evn name all five branches. They probably couldn't tell you what happened during the Tet offensive or how all of th Marines were massacred but only after giving the VC a heck of a fight. They probably have no idea what Guadacanal was about.

That is unappeciation, because the reason they don't know is:

1. they don't care
2. because the teachers don't tell them about it... Why? I'll leave that one up to our official forum conspiracy theorists

I was interviewed by my home town newspaper the other day in Oakdale, CA. She asked me why I joined the Coast Guard. I said because I want to save lives. Then she asked me how I felt about a possibly pending tactical unit transfer, I said that while I was a little leary because of my wife, I looked forward to being a patriot. And she asked me if I really wanted anyone to know that, like it was something to be embarrassed about.
