Hi Kit,Having two degrees is nice but they don't provide much safety.
I'm surprised that you'd be stepping out without some sort of protection
since you have a long history of being attacked/abused/manipulated by
the majority of your family...including your brother.
In this thread as in many other of your threads, you are still showing the
bad habit of continuing to put yourself into unsafe or toxic situations...
not good and I do advise that you work on breaking those habits.
I don't recommend that you get a gun at this time.
What I do recommend: take a self defense course/personal safety course.
Purchase /Learn how to use pepper spray and or a tazer.
Here's you a link for personal alarms:
Amazon.com: Vigilant PPS-22BL130dB Personal Alarm with LED Flashlight and Keyring Key Chain: Camera & Photo
Thanks for your response. One of the reasons why I open up on these threads is to get advice and to vent my feelings to a so called christian community. The one thing that I loathe and completely upsets me is when someone uses my past and constantly judges me. That was my #1 fear someone always goes back into my posts from 2000 and states.....
1) you cant be a parent because of xyz
2)oh you forgave your 16 year old brother your terrible.
3) lately your apartments have been unsafe, its because of you.
Then u automatically ASSUMED I carried no form of defense on me without even asking.
First of all, I am always aware of my surroundings which is number 1 in self defense.
I dont go out after 8pm and when I did I was accompanied by a male relative.
Thirdly, I do have a tazer which my dad gave me that I carry with me all the time.
Fourth, I just paid for a $400 alarm on my car that buzzes during emergencies.
Five, I now live in a luxury upscale apartment so I didnt expect much crime to be here. Yesterday I was informed that we will be getting security workers and are now under new management so thats good.
Lastly, my comments about my degrees were in reference to someone elses posts and comments. There are links between degrees and safety because being able to critically think and to make decisions in high stress situations are both skills that can be applied on the real world.
I am a survivor very true and I dont take that lightly. Most people who have been through what I have been through often end up committing suicide, in mental health hospitals, taking drugs to dull the pain. Dont underestimate the power, and wisdom that comes from enduring trials and tribulations.
My family is another thread, and alot has changed since those posts ALOT. But this thread is not about family. Crime happens everywhere even celebrities are often victims.I dont think you meant any harm , but it kind of felt a bit like you were victim shaming.
