Muslim women and jews ortodox women are covering their hair with the hijab everytime they leave the house.

is this something that christian women should do aswell?

1 Corinthians 11:5, says that “Every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonours her head, for that is one and the same as if her head were shaved.”

I guess that scripture applied to the Corinthian church in that era. The Lord Jesus also didn't mandate it in the book of Revelations. So my guess is that in the current dispensation it's not required (unless they wanted to do so). Peace in Christ :).

Does that verse say "every time they leave the house"? No.

''In today's culture, we no longer view a woman's wearing of a head covering as a sign of submission. In most modern societies, scarves and hats are fashion accessories. A woman has the choice to wear a head covering if she views it as a sign of her submission to the authority of her husband. However, it is a personal choice and not something that should be used to judge spirituality. The real issue here is the heart attitude of obedience to God's authority and submission to His established order “as to the LORD” (Ephesians 5:22). God is far more concerned with an attitude of submission than an outward display of submission via a head covering. First Timothy 2:9-10, "I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God." ''

To find out more: Should Christian women wear head coverings?

Basically the letter to the Corinthians was quite specific to the practices of that time in Corinth. Not to wear a head covering would have been shocking and a way of declaring ''I am under no authority, not even God!''. It would have been shocking to them, maybe a sign of insanity, not to wear a head covering.

2 To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, together with all those who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours

1st Corinthians is addressed to the church in Corinth as well as those who in every place call on the name...Jesus Christ.

If we say that covering is cultural or for that time, don't we need to look at the whole book with that mindset? What other verses might be cultural or only for that time or era?

That passage in 1 Corinthians 11 never mentions culture as a basis for head coverings. Instead the Apostle Paul specifically referred to the created order of things in terms of the glory of God which transcends both time and culture. Therefore the instruction that a woman should cover her head when praying and prophesying applies today. It only applies in a corporate setting such as church, Bible study or even at home when men and women are together praying, prophesying.
