Amazon recently terminated service for Parler on the basis of their inability to remove incitement, calls to violence, etc. which have been leading to problems in American political life.

Should they do the same for Twitter? Twitter continues to display incitement, calls for violence, etc. And Twitter likewise uses AWS.

Twitter Selects AWS as Strategic Provider to Serve Timelines | Amazon.com, Inc. - Press Room

Or should they not have removed Parler? What is your stance?

I have come across a few examples of such postings. See what you can find.

I did not see a way to report these, but that may be because I don't have an account at Twitter. If someone does, please feel free to report them.

Why is he still breathing was a bit of a meme. These, and many others, were still up as of the posting of this message:

They are all hypocrites. Very powerful forces to try and ensnare us and rob us of our freedoms and destroy the world we knew and loved.

Its best to ban them all! Mob of liars!

Wait...so “cancel culture” is good now?

Certainly it must be for Amazon, or they would not have done it. But the question is should Amazon continue to maintain this position? You may give tour take if you like.

Was Amazon wrong to do it the first time? Or should they do it again?

Cancel the vote, Cancel the count, Cancel the win, Cancel the certification, Cancel the Inauguration.

Seems like it is.

Twitter's lack of response on death threats was called out years ago by Amnesty international in October 2018 asking why they still were not handling them correctly.

Why is Twitter still not acting when it receives reports of death threats?

A more strict policy was adopted part way through 2020, but not every Tweet is acted upon.

Tweets wishing for Trump's death violate Twitter policy, company says

“Tweets that wish or hope for death, serious bodily harm or fatal disease against anyone are not allowed and will need to be removed,” the company said in a tweet. A spokesman told the Guardian this policy has been in place since April and applies to all users, not just Trump.

The announcement came as a surprise to many Twitter users, especially people in marginalized communities who say they frequently experience abuse on the platform. Evan Greer said that as a trans woman and the primary spokesperson for the digital rights organization Fight For the Future, she receives death threats on a “weekly, sometimes daily basis”.

“The decision to suddenly enforce this policy underscores that centralizing content moderation decisions with Big Tech monopolies will always protect the powerful and silence the marginalized,” she said.

A spokesperson from the company told Motherboard it is suspending some users but will not act on every tweet.

Twitter was one of the platforms used to plan the riot in DC:

Capitol riot was openly organized on mainstream social media

The event marked a convergence of Trump supporters, from MAGA personalities and QAnon cultists to members of nationalist groups like the Proud Boys. They posted about 6 January on pro-Trump message board The Donald and QAnon-hosting 8Kun, as well as right-wing platforms and messaging apps like Parler, Gab and Telegram.

But the organising and discussion was not limited to darker or more-obscure corners of the internet, but on mainstream platforms like Facebook groups and on Instagram stories, Reddit, TikTok, Twitter and YouTube.

For those who think Twitter should be removed, perhaps you should consider enlisting the help of a politician that got involved in the Parler decision, such as Ro Khanna.

Or perhaps the Amazon Employees for Climate Justice, they seem concerned about Amazon hosting calls for violence, and want to not be complicit in bloodshed.

Squad members respond to Twitter's warning after Trump contracts COVID-19 | Boston.com

The squad wonders why the no wishing for death policy didn't apply for them.

“Is this policy uh retroactive?” Sarah Groh, the chief of staff for Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley, asked, noting that her boss is one of “a few women of color in Congress that deal of piles of death threats weekly.”

“So… you mean to tell us you could‘ve done this the whole time?” New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez added.

Slevin followed up with a screenshot Saturday of eight separate tweet advocating for Omar’s death.

“Great to see that this policy is already being enforced consistently!” he wrote, sarcastically.

“Harassment and violence aren’t new to your platform,” Rep. Katherine Clark, a fellow Massachusetts Democrat, said in response.

“Women and especially women of color have long faced threats— and often it results in real world violence,” Clark said. “How about we react equally when anyone is endangered.”

In response, Twitter posted a series of tweets from a separate account late Saturday afternoon admitting that it “must do better.”

“We hear the voices who feel that we’re enforcing some policies inconsistently,” the company wrote, pledging to address the “concerns about our enforcement through action, not empty words.”
