Should a former President be investigated? That depends on whether there is credible evidence that an investigation is warranted. That's a pretty important qualifier.

Yes. In a rational world there would be an independent panel who reviewed the actions of every president after their term ends to ensure there was no abuse of power while in office. In cases where there is evidence of wrongdoing, its absolutely right and proper for those to be investigated and the former President indicted if appropriate.

Why would anyone want a system where political leaders are above the law?

Absolutely. Unless we are living in a dictatorship. The Dems said "Nobody is above the law."

Any person should be investigated for any actions they committed ever. Presidents would be no different. Of course, any person should be investigated if there are legitimate accusations and not just vengeful trumped-up accusations based on conspiracy theories.

Any crime should be investigated. But a blanket fishing expedition is not helpful.

Those happen when Presidents are still in office. I think there should be a crime first then an investigation rather than an investigation desperately in search of some crime.

Yes or no and why.

Yes to illegal actions they may have actually been committed, no to conspiracy theories spawned ad infinitum by a vindictive opposition.

The "yes" is because "should" has nothing to do with it; that's what we do, or else Ford's pardon of Nixon would have been superfluous. The "no" because such paranoia shouldn't be rewarded with the illusion of legitimacy.
