If Putin was hoping for more delay or trouble on that one, the answer is "nope, not today". (really, he ought to quit while he's still ahead. If Putin continues to try to interfere in the U.S. it may lead to a lot worse outcomes for him sooner or later)

I wonder who the 7 Senators that weren't there were.

The final count is 81-13 (Perdue in quarantine -- I don't know where the other 6 Senators were. In any case it wasn't close.) Note the 1st vote - prior to the president's veto - was 84-13.

I expected the override to be fairly easy. I was just wondering if the other 6 Senators were gone so they didn't need to publically take a stand.

Why is this bill worth passing?

Is it the best bill that the Congress could have come up with, a bill that deals only with funding defense of the county , did not fund anything wasteful or deal in pork barrel giveaways?

Could the Congress not come up with a better one that had less wasteful and pork barrel spending?

Are people supporting the bill based only on being happy because it was an override of Trump's veto and not because they actually know everything that is in the legislation or would even support all that much of what is in the legislation?

I'm not sure of your point here. Trump didn't object to it based on "anything wasteful" or "pork barrel giveaways." Instead, he vetoed it because it did not have a repeal of Section 230.

Trump's duck just discovered how lame it is.

Fortunately, Trump's most ardent supporters are also constitutional experts.

I was waiting on something like that from the President but as yet he has not vented his spleen publicly about this.

To be fair, it also disrespects the names of Confederate leaders.

Have they ever done so before?

I cannot say for sure . Perhaps in the late 1700s they did? But having never done something hardly means one is barred from doing it in the future.

To be fair, it also disrespects the names of Confederate leaders.

And requires anonymous LLC shell companies to name their beneficial owners.

The 8 that didn't vote on cloture (80-12) were:

Cotton (R-AR)
Cruz (R-TX)
Gardner (R-CO)
Graham (R-SC)
Jones (D-AL)
Loeffler (R-GA)
Perdue (R-GA)
Sasse (R-NE)

2 still in run-offs (Loeffler, Perdue), 2 who already lost (Gardner, Jones) + Sasse, Cruz, Graham, and Cotton. Likely two of the last 4 were the additional votes on final passage: 1 for, 1 against (81-13 total). The votes aren't posted yet.

...you raise some good points - I certainly don't favor how we prioritize defense over say - public health spending. 2020 demonstrated how weak our country is on that front.

But today is not the time to re-negotiate defense spending.

I'm impressed -- I'd have thought McConnell would have never allowed the vote if he suspected Donald would veto it.
It was an override. Trump couldn't veto it.
