Republicans as usual take care of their priorities.

No stimulus for business owners and the unemployed, to make schools safe, to help states protect their citizens.

But confirming a judge to rule for voter suppression, to protect an illegitimate president, and end healthcare in a pandemic--work Sundays to get that done.

Are the Dems sticking around to work or did they also abandon their post? While I understand the need to go back to their states occasionally but right now they should all be working in Washington. The only day they need off is to worship and the Sabbath of course.

Sad isn't it?

Problem is, if the Republicans go home, the Democrats only have the choice of going home since nothing can be done or voted on.

If the senate is adjourned by McConnell and the Republican majority, then what's the point of the Dem senators sitting in Washington? Would you go to work on days that the owner closed the factory?

The Republicans have stained the reputation of the USSC in the eyes of the nation...and the world.

So since Pelosi is unwilling to negotiate there is no reason for the Republicans to stay.

Seems to me McConnell is the one who isn't willing. I've seen multiple proposals come out of the House, but nothing from the Senate. If you're negotiating the price on something and you ask for $100 while the buyer offers $1, you would expect to meet somewhere in the middle. However, McConnell seems insistent on only offering that dollar bill. That's not negotiation.

Pelosi isn't the only one not willing to negotiate. The Democrats have already negotiated and dropped the price tag two times. The Republicans have changed their minds as well, but are still trying to low ball the Democrats with a steeply lower number.

This cannot be put squarely on the Democrats.

Here is the 1800 page proposal. I couldn't get through all of it but man is it full of pork. Everything everybody has always wanted is in there.

Look for yourself. This is what is wrong with our government. 1800 pages of pork spending. I wouldn't approve it.

As far as I am aware, yes, Pelosi is in favor of staying to get something out before the election.

I would have thought at least one party would have said let's pass the money for the legal citizens since they all agree on that.

A few have tight races for reelection and need to hit the campaign trail pretty hard this week.

And now need to explain to their constituents why they didn't bother passing help for them. Good luck with that.

IIRC, the Senate was originally scheduled to adjourn about two weeks ago.

So since Pelosi is unwilling to negotiate there is no reason for the Republicans to stay.

What makes you think that it's Pelosi who's being the stumbling block? Pelosi and Mnuchin have been negotiating all along.
'We'll be ready': Stimulus negotiations on razor-thin timeline, with election 8 days away. What could happen next

It's been McConnell and Mark Meadows who've been obstructing things.

What's in the bill is nuts. It shows just how much they actually care about us little people. Both sides proposals should be thrown out.

What, specifically, is nuts about it?
