Hi all,

Passive Eastern church member with Indian Keralite nestorian/oriental orthodox family lineage. Feeling disillusioned with faith and now have a strong distaste for all organised religion, briefly went into an atheistic outlook. Experiencing a void left by religion and was recently reading existentialist authors- Kierkegaard, Camus and Sartre. Attracted to socialist, christian deist and monotheistic philosophies- Judaism and Sufism in particular. Don't know where i fit in, in this forum. But continuing my search for higher meaning and purpose.

Of course most of us here would like you to believe as we do but let me offer you this. The God of the Bible is not about religion but about relationship. To have a relationship with the Living God is an experience that is (please forgive the wording) OUT OF THIS WORLD! Too many people chase after religion thinking it can satisfy when in reality we were created for relationship thus the only thing that really satisfies.

When depressed or feeling bad, i seek after God and i find temporary comfort in praying and reading the Psalms. But sometimes i wonder if i'm only making things up and deluding myself. I'm sorry for saying this, i do not mean to offend anyone.

First let me say that when we seek God He promises to be found. I experienced this in my own life and have known others who have found the same to be true. Second, the Psalms are a great place to find comfort...so no I wouldn't say this SHOULD offend anyone. I also would suggest that it is NOT made up in yourself but giving over to God and trusting Him is not as easy as finding comfort in Him and His promises. We as people like to keep back part of ourselves from the God who sees into us...let Him have it all, He is trustworthy and faithful.
