In this song I see the the importance being thankful for God’s gifts to us and not idolising the material :)
This is a cover of a 1973 song by William DeVaughn which did quite well on the charts. It spoke to me back then just as strongly!

This song by Kansas was written a few months before the writer accepted Christianity. The Holy Spirit had clearly been wooing him.

Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, well
It surely means that I don't know
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about, I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more, no
Carry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for you

Pete Seeger wrote this in the 50s. It became a #1 Billboard hit for the Byrds in the mid-60s. The lyrics are taken almost verbatim from Ecclesiastes. Nice vocal by Jim (aka ROGER) McGuinn along with his jangly 12-string guitar work.

There's nothing that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
Make you happy, make your dreams come true
To make you feel my love
