Jesus demonstrates how currency is like a one way mirror to us. We just do not see how Satan still holds a death grip on our soul/spirit because we can see our religious or 'good' deeds we do. We can live to be very old and still not see the link between our soul and our currency or desire for even more currency.

Now, on the National level, our country was getting into serious financial trouble in 1971 because other countries saw our gold supply was dwindling (which meant our paper dollars) were not going to be backed by gold for very much longer(so they were trading back our dollars for gold) because the U.S. ruling elites wanted to continue making money off of the created Vietnam situation. So in 1971 President Nixon was visited by members of the Basil Group (I think they call themselves the IMF now) and they convinced Nixon to go off the gold standard and just base our currency on faith that the Government will somehow find a way to satisfy what a dollar could probably by in the now and in the near future.

History of other countries trying this method tells us that it can only work as a very temporary solution. Since all of these highly educated advisors at Nixon's disposal surely knew this, we wonder why he took such a terrible turn.

I think it was because of the tremendous greed of the elites that had made so much money off of the war. 'The more you have, the more you want' mentality. They did not want the money train to end. So Nixon was remembered for getting us out of Vietnam...and Watergate. Not for financially destroying us. So gradually, 'dollars' became an abstract concept.....not CONCRETE. This means that gradually there has been created a huge ravine between executives, entertainers, etc., vs Blue Collar-service workers...........and the ravine is still widening.

The Government's faith is now being questioned by the countries that have had to loan them money to manage the day-to-day operations. How did our leaders let this happen? Jesus said: "The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! (Mt.6:22,23)

I think there is going to be some kind of a war coming very soon if the Supreme Court does not demand we go back to the gold, or, some other precious metal, to base the dollar on. It may not be a war involving physical and collateral damage, but it will be just as frightening and uncertain.

I'll add to that, though, that Nixon bolstered the dollar by establishing an agreement with Saudi Arabia that they would only accept US dollars for their oil in exchange for unlimited military protection of the Saud regime. That means every country that buys Saudi oil must first buy US dollars to pay for it--which obviously boosts the demand for US dollars considerably, and keeps the demand high to this day. (Google: "petrodollars")

The rest of OPEC went along with the deal...and that is the real reason the US went to war against Iraq when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait and appeared to be ready to invade Saudi Arabia. It may also be the reason the US finally invaded Iraq and toppled Saddam...he was threatening to start selling Iraqi oil for Euros, which would have eventually brought the Nixon-Saud deal to an end.
