You see, I'm not buying the tricksy science argument or the dirty politics argument.
These just don't fly.

I think it's all about taxes.
Taxes turn some hearts cold.

Convince me that I'm wrong.

For one thing, I have no problem paying taxes. They are necessary for government to function. However, there is such a thing as taxing too much, or for things that don't have a legal basis. Those are the ones people have a problem with.

Yes, I see.

How much tax is too much?

As for a dollar amount or percentage, people are going to have differing opinions about that. For other people, it's more about the purpose that the money is being used for.

Depending on one's political ideology, you will get a wide variety of answers. To me, I have no problem paying taxes, but I do have a problem, when the government shows it is very inefficient in how it uses the money.

You think you don't have "enough."
You don't want to pay taxes.
You live in a society and enjoy its privileges, but you still don't want to pay taxes.
You don't want to help your society, or your nation or your planet, even though they help you.
You want only to help yourself.

Because you don't have "enough."
Oh, you must be that Brown Brink that lives next door. Otherwise how could you possibly know me that well.
How's the cat coming along? Still have fleas?

But by now I have had enough.

What nonsense.

Yes, this too! That's one of my issues as well. It seems that the bigger government gets, the more inefficient it gets. I'd say it's big and inefficient enough as it is.

Yes, I agree.
Overtaxing citizens is not the best outcome either.
This weakens society.

There has to be a middle ground.
And we need to hurry up and find it.
When it comes to the environment, we are on a time schedule.
We need to talk about it.
Taxes are a valid issue.

We should be talking about taxes, shouldn't we?

I know we all try to get out of paying taxes.
It's like a game to us.
But it can have real effects.

I hear terrible things about our tax system...
Why don't we work on it?

A complete redo of the income tax would do wonders. The Fair Tax plan is the most researched proposal and would make life better for everyone.

We often talk about our tax system...
It seems the majority of people want to work on it, but we never seem to get anywhere...

From what I understand, our tax system is tied our election process.
We elect politicians who promise to cut taxes for this group or that group...
It's not in the best interest of politicians to clean up our tax system.
It is, however, in our best interest.
The fringe benefits would be enormous.

I think that a politician who managed to clean it up would become quite popular with voters, especially voters who have to file/pay taxes.
