A well known journalist Australian journalist, Mike Willesee, returned to the Catholic faith after being a hard nosed atheist for years. When you read his story you can see why he might have become hostile to the church. Apparently he died on March 1, 2019 when the following article was published in the Catholic Weekly.

I remember seeing him on TV way back in his heyday in the 70's and 80's. He was an aggressive journalist.

Legendary journalist Mike Willesee returned to faith

But after returning to the Catholic Church, and even before it, he set about trying to prove that God is real, and that there was a genuine supernatural basis for his decision. Willesee says revealing God is his greatest work

Another case of alleged supernatural phenomena that Willesee and Tesereiro investigated was a Communion host from a church in Buenos Aires that appeared to be bleeding.

Expert analysis of fragments of the host by several different scientists had revealed that it consisted of human tissue.

Willesee and Tesereiro then took a sample to renowned cardiologist Professor Zugabe in New York.

“He didn’t want to work with us. He was retired and cranky. But we found him on the internet. He was a heart specialist. He’d written two books on the heart.”

Without revealing the source of the sample, they asked the Professor to tell them what it was.
Professor Zugabe determined the sample provided by Mike and Ron was human heart tissue and that, furthermore, the person the tissue came from had suffered great stress prior to death.

These findings were then presented to the then Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Jorge Bergoglio, now Pope Francis.

PS - As a footnote, part of the reason he initially drifted away was that -
Mike himself had also been bullied and even physically assaulted, on account of his father’s political stance, by Christian Brothers at his high school. His view of the Church was understandably negative.

This is the same bunch who had the record of the most child abuse cases in Catholic circles in Australia according to the Federal Government Commission. If their order goes out the door, it can't be too soon in my opinion.

I’m,fascinated and I have a library on them.

It’s hard to get anyone interested in them! Even Catholics!
But they should.

One major difficulty has been the refusal of many labs to even test samples when they knew the origin, in others pathologists have been silenced for daring to publish Their findings. The university publishing a false statement instead. Eg Sokolka

Another is language, the tixtla book is in Spanish. The original work of legnica and sokolka are in polish.

Some bishops even try to hide them/ destroy them , one buried by a bishop as Willesee noted in his book.

Three issues that article does not touch on are
1/ white cells prove the samples are living!
2/ the tissue is so infused into bread at edges it is impossible to fake
3/ but they refuse to yield nuclear DNA( they would if faked)
They do yield mitochondrial ( maternal ) DNA
- which considering the parents is further proof!

His book “ a sceptics search for meaning” is well worth the read.
It gives the inside track to a lot of the investigations , and scientists that he and Ron teseroriero met that gradually changed his mind.

Rons book “ unseen” and videos are good too.
