I'm starting this thread for people who would like to ask any large-scale science questions, like "How does my immune system work?" or "How does my car turn gas into movement?" and get actual answers. Please don't ask small questions, like "Is a hyena a cat or a dog?" (it's neither).

Why does toast always land buttered side down when dropped?
When the toast lands jelly side down it means evil is afoot...

How do the tissues pop back up in those tissue holder things?

The tissues are slightly attached to each other. The force required to rip them apart is less than the force needed to pull a tissue through the plastic bit, so it gets pulled up but breaks away before you pull out the second tissue.

It doesn't. It does however tend to flip over once every six feet, so unless you rest your toast butter side down, it will land butter side down.

Okay, another big question.

What possessed you to actually answer my question?
Good answer, nonetheless.

Well it was kind of a small question, but if you really wanted to know then whatever.

Can you link to any peer review scientific papers to back up your claim? Not saying you are wrong, but extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Have faith - its covered in the Bible in the well known Psalm - 'Breakfast with Mine Enemies':

Psalms:23:5: Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my toast with oil; my toast turneth over.

Where do long period comets come from?

Please don't ask small questions, like "Is a hyena a cat or a dog?" (it's neither).

Point of pedantry - you are correct, but hyenas are members of the Feliformes subfamily.

I can link an episode of Mythbusters. Scientists have failed to realize the importance of uh... toast migration.

Why do we always tend to sneeze twice?

We don't. How many times you sneeze depends on what's causing it.

Can photosynthesis operate apart from thermodynamics?

Everything obeys the laws of thermodynamics. Photosynthesis is complicated and I study animal medicine, not botany, so I can't really talk about exactly how it works. If you have a specific reason to believe it may not obey thermodynamics, I may be able to explain it.

You do know that, according to Genesis 1, angiosperms existed before the sun, don't you?
