Louis--I started a thread in the Congregation forum entitled 'a better resurrection'---to discuss OSAS.  Thus far, no one has posted.  I will post the Scriptures that I believe support my view if you will discuss it with me there?  Please.  I promise I will be nice. :)

Just don't want to highjack franklin's thread.

You're turning this into a salvation discussion again.  And anyways, I seem to recall a certain Scripture in John that talks about abiding and remaining in Him.

Are you trying to tell me that the parable of the sheep and goats doesn't apply to us?

  3. Finally, someone who understands plan bible teaching.<IMG onmouseover="this.style.cursor='hand';" style="WIDTH: 35px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 24px" onclick="smilie('');" height=15 alt=wave src="http://www.christianforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif" width=46 border=0>

Hello everyone, Greetings and blessing from our Father above and the Lord Jesus Christ.

I would just like for the world to stop and think about the true God of the bible, and ask yourself, have you ever really understood what faith is.&nbsp; We have the bible and yet we still don't understand what true faith is.&nbsp; In the book of Hebrews 11 if you would stop by that chapter and study it carefully and slowly you will learn what true faith in God is.&nbsp; And so no one is confused read the book of Gen.ch.6-9 it's before the Law of Moses so you won't have to deal with that point

Hebrews chapter 11 indicates that faith and works go hand in hand like Jack and Jill, like Ping and Pong, like zippety and do-dah.

One without the other just won't cut it. Is that what you are trying to convey?

You are so right. As I was reviewing this post, something else came to mind, and that is, We are saved by the word of God 1 Peter 1:22-25 that endureth for ever.

I like your screen name Larry...The Bible is Right. I wish more people would look to the Bible for Guidance and God and test what others teach. Faith without works is dead.
Love and God Bless. Franklin great post!:)

"Are you trying to tell me that the parable of the sheep and goats doesn't apply to us? "

Yes, it does, but to the WORLD not exclusivly to us. The church has no goats, not the true church. You cannot loose your salvation.

Its faith alone, that's what historical christianity has always believed, and that's what I affirm.

If you look at John 3 christ talks about it very plainly. You have 2 births, not 3, 4, etc..just 2. One physical and one spiritual. that's it. YOu don't have anymore. Once you are truely a christian, there is no going back. That's what the bible says.

Romans 11 says it clearly in verse 29 "for God's gifts are irrevocable." You can't turn away once you become a christian.

    :)&nbsp; Good morning LouisBooth,

    • First let me understand where you are coming from.
    • You believe that once a person has become a child of God, that person cannot be lost?

  10. :) Are you in this morning Louis Booth?

    I'm alright, Larry. :)

I believe that we are saved by grace through faith.. but not faith alone and I believe it is possible for a person to forfeit his/her salvation.

    What about you?

    Michelle

  14. I agree with you all the way.

And to help those who don't understand it, we can just use one word, "endure" just find out how many times Jesus used this word (endureth or endure) then we can understand the subject of losing one's soul.

Ahh..I agree he uses the word endure, but as an encouragement, just as him saying be perfect as your Father in heaven is..we can't be perfect, it is an encouragement. Always shoot for the best.

    Miss Shelby,

We can forfeit it, i.e.: reject it, throw it away, and so on, but can we actually lose it say if I were to curse before running into a tree and being pinned, cannot open my mouth to utter a prayer seeking forgiveness?

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying, Jeff.&nbsp;&nbsp; God would never take it away... we would have to reject it.&nbsp; And by rejecting it, we would have to be&nbsp;in a horrid unrepentant state.&nbsp; In&nbsp;James it talks about&nbsp;being dragged away and enticed by sin and then in leads to death . I don't think that happens once.&nbsp;&nbsp;I think that&nbsp;happens&nbsp;after continued unrepented sin.

&nbsp; But if you commit a sin right before death I don't think that you lose salvation if you have been repentant all along.

    Ahh thanks for clarification. :)

I am of OSAS persuasion, but I also keep in mind where Paul says, "Should I sin so that grace would abound? Heaven forbid!" and also, "Faith without works is dead." I am not a person who would sit idly by and let those around me rot in sin. I will show my faith by my works. :)
