Anti-sanctuary push could spread far beyond Los Alamitos

The County of Orange and several cities in Southern California soon might join Los Alamitos in its bid to opt out of a controversial state law that limits cooperation with federal immigration officials.

Officials with the county as well as leaders in Aliso Viejo and Buena Park said Tuesday they plan to push for various versions of the anti-sanctuary ordinance approved in Los Alamitos late Monday by a 4-1 vote of that city council

Does it say why?

Is it a matter of principle . . . or because of inconvenience?

Is money deciding?

I personally understand that God wants us to freely do what is right, because we love Him, and not only in order to avoid inconvenience or because of money. So, I consider that using financial pressure to get something is not God's way.

So, how would a Christian nation do things??

What does it mean to become a "sanctuary city" and what are the effects?
Becoming a "sanctuary city" means that a city won't cooperate with federal agencies and help them apprehend illegal aliens. It's similar to "aiding and abetting" criminals.

I'm pretty sure that being an undocumented alien is a civil rather than a criminal matter.

I did say "similar to", not "exactly like"- but helping someone sought by a federal agency avoid capture certainly doesn't sound so good, does it?

Is it a Crime to Enter The U.S. Illegally?

Whether it’s by crossing the U.S. border with a "coyote" or buying a fake U.S. passport, a foreign national who enters the U.S. illegally can be both convicted of a crime and held responsible for a civil violation under the U.S. immigration laws. Illegal entry also carries consequences for anyone who might later attempt to apply for a green card or other immigration benefit.

The penalties and consequences get progressively more severe if a person enters illegally more than once, or enters illegally after an order of removal (deportation) or having been convicted of an aggravated felony

Not all violations of the law are criminal violations.
Illegal immigrants are, by definition, illegal. Anyone entering this country illegally is subject to criminal sanctions.

Just FACT.

Yes, illegal entry is a crime. Being in the country without authorization is a civil violation, not a crime.
