So what were those 'works of Law then?' Curiously, one of the Dead Sea Scrolls (4QMMT) is titled 'Misqat Ma'asseh ha Torah,' literally 'Some Works of the Law.'

Performance based salvation - that which is contrary to salvation being simply be hearing and believing.

Ga 3:2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Ga 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them."

But James links faith and works. Paul also says he does NOT negate the Law by faith (Romans 3:31)

"Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true." Acts 17:11

James was not an apostle. Paul was God's chosen apostle to Jews and Gentiles. Since they contradict each other, one is wrong. Which one?

Where does God say He chose Paul? If I'm not mistaking, it was a self-proclamation. Can I say God chose me to be an apostle, and would you then believe everything I say?

James was the head of the Jerusalem Council and Jesus' brother. Both Peter and Paul obeyed him. That is a pretty strong endorsement.

Nope. In that council Peter agreed with Paul, but James disagreed. James tinkered with the law making salvation for Gentiles contingent upon things like what one eats. Paul, if you read his epistles, taught contrary to that.

So, every OT saint was cursed, right?

Acts 21:18 On the following day Paul went in with us to James, and all the elders were present. 19 After greeting them, he related one by one the things that God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry. 20 And when they heard it, they glorified God. And they said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed. They are all zealous for the law, 21 and they have been told about you that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or walk according to our customs. 22 What then is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come. 23 Do therefore what we tell you. We have four men who are under a vow; 24 take these men and purify yourself along with them and pay their expenses, so that they may shave their heads. Thus all will know that there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself also live in observance of the law. 25 But as for the Gentiles who have believed, we have sent a letter with our judgment that they should abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled,[d] and from sexual immorality.” 26 Then Paul took the men, and the next day he purified himself along with them and went into the temple, giving notice when the days of purification would be fulfilled and the offering presented for each one of them.

There is other scripture in one of Pauls' letters where he wrote that he became what ever it took to win over the audience to Jesus in the Gospel of Grace. His main concern was reaching his brethren the Jew. That he would be accursed for the sake of the Nation of Israel. So yes he did Acts 21 for their sake.

God has unfulfilled promises to Israel. They will be fulfilled in the end times.
One role is that after the second coming and during the millennium there will be 144,000 Jewish evangelists spreading the word that their messiah has finally come to a throne in Jerusalem .

And yet some will not believe.
