    Hello brinny.
Are you still fascinated with the book of Revelation? Gotta read it as an OT Hebrew would.

    A DOOMSDAY EMPHASIS?

I learned that there were pagan apocalyptist “preachers” in the second century who would concoct all sorts of nonsensically vague symbols, that they really did not even intend to be understood. And they always proposed doom and gloom. They proposed evil ruled the day and God would sit back until the end and intervene. These guys would go wild in their speculations! There was nothing they said that would give people an answer of what to do. Just bear the evil until the end. This is identical to the emphasis we find as the resulting feeling saints are given by futurist teachings.

I must not understand. How is this bad news? Just the other day.. thinking about my own family what not.. as in I don't think I have been a good example or taught them enough.. how will they be saved. Praise GOD.. He said "I saved you". All are drawn to Him by the sweet sweet Holy Spirit..

Dear Blade: It is only bad news for those who think they have chosen the Lord Jesus Christ.

You did not choose Me, I chose you

My friend, we stand with you for your household!

“Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household.

It is all timing, one tiny word from His glory changes our entire thinking and being.

Cause me to hear Your voice open my understanding

Why would this be sad/bad news for them ... since He has chosen them ?

Dear Thinker : There are only two options>>>>

    1. We have chosen our Saviour God.

    2. Our Saviour God has chosen us.

Per scripture ... we choose Him because He first chose us.

What's the downside to that ?

We are admonished in God's Word to "seek His face", and that those who seek Him WILL find Him. It also is written that those Who are "hungry" for God and His righteousness WILL be fed. God DELIGHTS in those who seek Him. It is written that when we seek God with all of our hearts, that we will find Him.

    It is also written:

Beware of deceitfulness. It originates with the devil, the “father” of lies (John 8:44), and is one of the seven things God hates (Proverbs 6:16-19).

    This also comes to mind:

“Oh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.” ~Walter Scott

No, there's a third. God has chosen us, but there's a condition of faith that is necessary for our salvation. God's choosing is not eny, meanie, mime.,moe and it's also not universal. There are only about the thousand verses indicating that God chooses based on a humble heart of faith.
