There is God's Word in the scriptures and then are systems of theology which humans create. How often are the scriptures read through the lens of man made theologies and a conclusion is arrived at which is not even the point God intended to get across.? Or worse yet, a false teaching is perpetuated.

Is the point of Romans 8 about salvation, predestination, or something else?

I tend to agree with the Eastern Orthodox tradition which, in Western terminology, is oft referred to as semi-pelagian.

Augustinianism and Calvinism are the same thing. Salvation and Predestination are the same thing. And lastly, the goal is to understand Scripture as it was intended by it's Author.

Only in Calvinism is salvation equated with predestination.

Yes, Augustinianism is the same as Calvinism. I'm aware that Calvinists readily hail Augustine as a great theologian whom they revere, which does seem ironic since Saint Augustine was an esteemed Catholic "saint", the Father of the Roman Catholic Church who confirmed all of the major dogmas of Roman Catholicism.

"He believed and taught the real presence of Christ in the bread and wine in the Mass; that the Mass, including the Eucharist, was an ongoing immolation (sacrificial killing) of Jesus; that baptism is absolutely necessary for salvation; that Mary was sinless and a perpetual virgin; that the Apocrypha was part of the Old Testament canon; that the popes were a fulfillment of apostolic succession; that Christ would not literally reign a thousand years on the earth, and that all spiritual authority rests in the Roman Catholic Church."

I believe this refers to overcoming the world through Christ, who overcame the world.
