Romans 10:13–15

13 For qwhosoever shall rcall upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear swithout a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach, except tthey be sent? as it is written, uHow beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

It's been my experience that most conversion is the result of one believer speaking to an individule. Certainly they are those who come to an altar call, still others vorn into a certain Christian institution and juat embraced the faith as a normal part of their lives. Yet the message has to be heard, that means it must be declared by someone.
