Witch hunt keeps on finding real witches.

well to be fair it's not finding witches yet :> But it's like my anology

Even if trump is innocent of being a witch, after a time you find alot of black cats and other familiars like roger stone, cauldrons, brooms and other things...I think it's safe to say right or wrong there might be a witch there.

Well, that was quite the clean up. A whole line of conversation had to be removed, including some very good posts, because it became off topic. Other posts were flaming others.

The topic is the conviction of Roger Stone. Stick to the topic.

reopening for now.

What are witnessing is the mixing of church and state by a significant portion of the GOP.

If the Republicans can't rein this in, the party may be looking at being declared a criminal organization subject to RICO laws.

Have you not learned what separation of church and state meant? Where the term came from?

It began with a letter from President Thomas Jefferson, to a pastor who had written the president.

The fear was that some denomination would gain national control over the people. For, the new nation was still reeling from the effects of the dominance of the Church of England over its people. Jefferson wrote to a concerned pastor about the separation of church and state. It was to assure the pastor that no one domination will become nationally endorsed over all the others. He told the pastor not to worry, for over here we have a separation of Church and State. That the pastor's denomination was to remain safe from government control.

That was what the original context conveyed!

What we get today? Is that statement being distorted. Distorted, like Satan distorted Scripture in the temptation of Christ. Its shameful.

History keeps repeating the same lessons over and over again. Only the players and names are changed.

I bet you had no idea where the saying "separation of church and state" came from.

genez, you don't understand that church and state cannot officially mix.

Do some reading please.
I just read something. It was your generalized, nothing specific... having nothing real to say.. statement.

If the Trump cast of characters were written into a soap opera viewers would complain it was too melodramatic.

Lol, you're kinda clairvoyant here. The opening scene of SNL was portraying Trump's impeachment as a soap opera. :D

Prosecutors recommended 7-9 years in prison.
DOJ is stepping in to suggest a lighter sentence.

Gross.

Top Justice Department officials are taking the extraordinary step of disavowing and undercutting their own federal prosecutors, announcing plans to reduce the government's sentence recommended for longtime Donald Trump confidante Roger Stone, a senior department official said Tuesday.

The stunning and politically charged decision, which is expected to be filed in Washington federal court later Tuesday, comes hours after Trump publicly criticized the recommendation, and the move will again raise questions about the Justice Department's independence from political pressure.

Prosecutors from the US Attorney's office in Washington, who are employees of the Justice Department, had said Monday that Stone should be sentenced to seven to nine years in prison after he was convicted on seven charges last year that derived from special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, including lying to Congress and witness tampering.

"The Department was shocked to see the sentencing recommendation," the official told CNN. "The Department believes the recommendation is extreme and excessive and is grossly disproportionate to Stone's offenses."

But the move to overrule federal prosecutors after they've already made a public commitment is rare, and quickly reverberated throughout the ranks of career Justice Department employees, with prosecutors from another high-profile US attorney's office expressing shock to CNN.
