Roger Stone's Crimes
President Donald Trump has criticized the Justice Department for prosecuting the president’s longtime associate Roger Stone and recommending that Stone serve up to nine years in prison. That’s his opinion, but he falsely supports it by claiming Stone did “nothing” and “nobody even can define what he did.”

The Justice Department summed it up this way in November when the jury rendered its verdict: “Stone was found guilty of obstruction of a congressional investigation, five counts of making false statements to Congress, and tampering with a witness.”

All of the charges stemmed from Stone’s attempts to thwart the House intelligence committee’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

7 crimes, max penalty of 50 years jailtime, 7-9 years recommended. Clearly there is some other notion of 'unfair' operating in Trumpworld. Is around 15% of the recommended max jail sentence, for an obstructive and unrepentant defendent so unusual?

I agree it's very interesting. Especially when you consider that at worst, he told lies, and he's an old man being sentenced as if he'd committed kidnapping or rape, according to this Justice Dept. document. There are some vicious, vindictive, evil people opposing Trump.

He was found guilty by a jury of his peers, and not just for lying.
Look at fact check. And the standard sentence was recommended.
And oh ya, poor, persecuted, corrupt Donald Trump. He's done so many things wrong it is impossible to keep track of them all, and yet you defend him.
"Woe to you who call evil good..."

Wasn't he just falling in line with the dishonest Russia investigation? "Hey, let's all lie and have a good old time." (I made up that quote.) ^_^

You don't say ... what would the 'good old time' involve?

Sitting around, yucking it up, and seeing who can tell the biggest whopper. The biggest whopper was the Russia hoax, not Stone's testimony. Upon dismissing the Russia probe as groundless all testimony involved should also be dismissed as it becomes meaningless.

Check your facts. It isn't hard to do...fact check, snopes. Russia did interfere with the election. It's been proven. And Trump was involved. We all heard him on national t.v. tell Russia to get Hillary's emails.
And Trump lies as easily as he breathes. The fact that you can listen to his own words and still credit him to be truthful or good says a lot about you...your heart.
He is an adulterer, paid off a inappropriate content star, has secret meetings with Putin...what kind of president has secret meetings with any other world leader, much less U.S. advesaries? A corrupt president, that's who. A president with a whole lot to hide.

But you couldn't tell he was joking? :swoon:

Trump was the beneficiary of Russia's involvement (if any) but what was his direct involvement? One can be 'involved' indirectly in something without even being aware of it. And you can be aware that you are beneficiary without being directly involved, which was likely the case with Trump. But that doesn't make it a crime.

Groundless? You reckon? I think they just threw in the towel after not getting on the guest list at Matryona’s place. Trump doesn’t like getting bumped.

No he was not joking; just like he was not joking when bragging about sexually assaulting women.
What kind of president has secret meetings with world leaders, any world leaders, much less those who are U.S. adversaries? A corrupt president, that's who. A president with a lot to hide.
Trump has a long history with Russia, a corrupt one with Doitcha bank ( I don't know how to spell that)...defaulting on loans, then even sueing them. He is corrupt through and through.
This stuff is not hard to find, and has been proven.
Why is he hiding his financial records? Why did he deny subpoenas and tell people not to testify? An honest man has nothing to hide, and honest Trump is not.

You know, supposing, for the sake of argument, that Russian intelligence really did hack into Hillary Clinton’s server and take classified emails, whose fault would that be, other than Hillary Clinton’s? Of course Russian intelligence is going to read the Secretary of State’s emails if the opportunity presents itself - that’s their job! It was Hillary Clinton’s job to make sure that her classified communications stayed secure, which she failed to do when she put them on a private server.

What would it prove, other than that Hillary Clinton had no business working in the government?

Yes, as Mueller proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, Putin was trying to get Trump elected, and was actively trying to subvert the election. What Mueller didn't prove beyond a shadow of a doubt was Trump's connivance in that process.

But he did of course, prove several instances of attempted obstruction on Trump's part, each one a felony. Those will have to wait until Trump leaves office.

Stone got himself caught in a series of felonies trying to cover it up. Forty months is pretty light for those offenses, particularly for his foolish hostility when brought to court.

Trump could still pardon him, of course.

And another one bites the dust...

Flaming and/or goading a public figure is against the rules at CF.

Putin isn't a public figure. He's a dictator. He's also a crook who did whatever he could to undermine our election and put Trump in the WH.

I'm just citing what our intelligence agencies have concluded, which is not against rules here. Would you like to see the evidence?

Sounds like an innovative new defense:
"Of course I stole your car; you just parked it on the street and walked away from it. So I stole it. Whose fault would that be, other than yours?"
