• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I feel like I've hit rock bottom and threre's no way to escape it. I feel totally burned out, consumed by this evil mind...

All forms of mental illness are very draining.

Please seek professional medical help. There are medications that will help you cope with your problems and there are practices you can use that will also help you deal with your symptons.

just as someone with a broken leg faces a time of greatly reduced mobility so you have to face the effects of medication untill you have your illness under control.

Again please speak to your doctor.

Thanks for your comment John. Yeah, you're right, it's like suffocating and slowly dying...I do see a doctor and I'm currently under evaluation. I really like your example of the broken leg, cause it's true. I suppose it's gonna take great deal time and effort but also patience on my behalf.

To be completely honest with you I've always had issues with trusting the medical establishment, mostly out my own experiences but also from what friends/family have had to deal with. That said, I'm not saying all medicine is bad or that all doctors are all the same. It's just difficult sometimes when things get progressively worse without any clear indications as to what to do about it even from a medical standpoint.
Also, I do feel I'm not doing enough on my own part concerning my health, it's something I probably need to take more seriously. Perhaps that's where I start?

There are things we all can do, like eating a healthy balanced diet, getting exercise, fresh air etc

The bibles command to look at, think about that which is good is also a practical wayto avoid getting depressed by the pointlessness of much of whats on tv and the internet.
One form of that is to regularly attend church.

Does your doctor know you have OCD? If you're feeling this bad, it sounds like you could really use some help. To be honest, I've never gotten professional help myself, but I know many people with OCD who benefit from taking SSRIs or other medications. Also, in my personal opinion, getting therapy is one of the absolute best things you can do, because that teaches you the strategies you can use to deal with your obsessions in the long term. Again, for a mixture of reasons I've chosen to self-treat instead of going to a therapist, but I think having a therapist (OCD specialist, not a regular talk therapist) can facilitate recovery and perhaps make the process quicker and easier. I can't remember what I've shared with you for resources before, but here's a page that gives a good overview of OCD and its treatment. Also, I belong to a FB support group (it's closed, so it doesn't show on your public FB page) that has a lot of other people with OCD, and being part of a community like that may help you understand your mind struggles better. Here's the link, if you're interested. I know it's so, so difficult to deal with OCD when it's at its worst, but there is a lot of help and hope for getting better, so please keep searching until you find the help you need. I'm willing to provide more suggestions/links as needed.

Haven't really gotten that far yet...I don't see him very often. Thanks for your input and the information you provided. I'll check it out and keep the search up cause right now it's worse than ever. And please do continue to share, something might stick.
