Minnesota Officials Link Arrested Looters to White Supremacist Groups
Department of Safety Commissioner John Harrington said they are contact-tracing the arrested and added that an investigation is underway about white nationalist groups posting online to encourage their members to use the protests as a cover to create chaos.

He said some of the 40 arrests made in the Twin Cities Friday night were of people linked to white supremacist groups and organized crime.

“The people that are doing this are not Minneapolis residents,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said. “They are coming largely from outside the city outside the region to prey on everything we have built.”

One white man was seen smashing windows while protestors tried to stop him. When they tried to identify him, he became aggressive and fled. Apparently the ex-wife of a police officer identified her ex as the man who broke the windows. No one can confirm that, however.

Clearly, people are trying to undermine the protestors by vandalism and inciting violence.

This is quite laughable. ANTIFA are white anarchists. This is a conspiracy theory going around Twitter saying white supremacists have coordinated with local police to burn the city down.

I watched the MN Gov presser at 1am this morning. A reporter asked his police chief if they had evidence of white supremacists burning down the city. He said no. The follow up question was do you have anyone in custody to prove this? Answer was “no” because they are not arresting people.

Then the police chief clarified they had evidence of communications between white supremacists “to attack infrastructure while the police were involved with the looters and chaos on the streets.

It was actually the police Chief from St Paul who arrested the 40 or so rioters. He said the majority were from out of state and did not specify any groups. Don’t know where you are getting your news but it is wrong.

“I want to be very, very clear: The people that are doing this are not Minneapolis residents,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey added. “They are coming in largely from outside of the city, from outside of the region, to prey on everything we have built over the last several decades.”

According to Saint Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, every person arrested in the city last night was from out of state: “We don’t know these folks,” he reiterated.

Department of Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington confirmed evidence of white supremacist groups trying to incite violence; Many posted messages online that encouraged people to go loot in Minneapolis and cause mayhem.

The information that I'm seeing states that the rioters are coming from out of town, but that there's uncertainty and mixed reports on who exactly they are.

My first thought was Antifa, since a lot of what is going on certainly sounds like them. I suppose I can see some of the alt-right crowd being devious enough to try to hijack and discredit the protests also, though I would be shocked if Antifa had chosen to sit something like this out. That's not their style at all.

There is the following article. But I suspect that since this article is coming from a Fox source, it shouldn't even be considered as an accurate source of information, right?

Jail records show most arrested in Minneapolis riots have Minnesota addresses

I did think it was suspicious that immediately after a case had been made against police brutality, that riots and looting had started which would then shift public opinion back in favor of the very police force that people want to scrutinize.

Seems to have come in from several sources. From the Fox article:
Speaking Saturday, Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder, however, said that sometimes people arrested will provide false information. He says background checks are showing some people arrested have records from other areas.

So Fox seems to have covered themselves in case they messed up.

And now it turns out that white supremacists were all over the net, trying to get people to go to Minneapolis to incite rioting and looting. Which should surprise no one.

Which is not their game. They go after critical infrastructure, attack police and government facilities and plant bombs. Dude it’s ANTIFA. The garb they are wearing is ANTIFA. White supremacists would be shooting and killing blacks. The safety commissioner is making a leap of logic. The FBI and DoJ reported these are far left anarchist groups.

Where is MN AG Ellison in all of this. Have not heard a peep from him. He’s an ANTIFA supporter. I’m sure he is covering his tracks.

Lots of videos circulating around sites like Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook right now of suspicious white men inciting destruction of property and looting. They do not even care to be inconspicuous anymore. Sloppy work!

With their supporters just denying that they are involved, they don't feel a need hide it. Denial is strong in those guys.

Correct. AG Ellison won’t let his shock troops ANTIFA to spend time in jail.

And I'm sure they will hide behind their anti-racism sentiments and allow the public to believe it was "undercover cops" in order to further their anti fascist agenda.

Yes the undercover cops deal is a huge conspiracy theory.

I'm assuming that the state governor is trying to spin things in a way which justifies a crackdown -- because he can't let Minneapolis burn down, and he also can't look "anti-left."

The mayor of St Paul walked back his statement on out of state arrests. He apologized and took responsibility. Video link below he says this at the beginning of the clip but worth watching it all. Good speech.

There is video evidence of white guys infiltrating the demonstrations, and then initiating vandalism and looting. One of them now might possibly be a police officer. And the fact that numerous white supremacist sites are encouraging people to go to these demonstrations and initiate violence indicates the reason they are doing it.

So it's just a groundless rumour, then?

Not enough to convict at this point. But here this white guy was caught breaking windows with a hammer, was confronted by demonstrators, first became aggressive, and then fled. Whether he was a police officer or just a white supremacist, doesn't really matter, does it?
