The way he handles money is commendable. A refreshing change from the greed that we have seen in many ministries.

Thanks. I appreciate your approval to do whatever I want to do, but that's not what I was saying.

My whole point started out saying, "if you want to know if someone is a false teacher or not..."

I didn't say to find a false teacher and follow him around like a little lost puppy.

    It's not a game. It's a question.

    You initially said in a massive run-on sentence;

So you "fully recommend following" a teacher around for "a while".

But it seems to me that even though you now believe that "understand [the] core motives and techniques" of m any of these teachers you call false, you still "follow" them. Why?

So my question is very much related to your statement. Since you're the one "fully recommend[ing]" people to follow false teachers around, at what point would you "fully recommend" they stop following them?

In the video interview of Rick Warren that someone posted earlier in this thread , Rick Warren came out really clearly and stated his position that Jesus is the only way.

I agree with what you are saying as a general trend in the church of compromise and backsliding. The church needs to go back to the old fashioned methods of prayer , fasting and repentance.

But I think it is possible that Rick Warren is being misrepresented in this article. They took a few comments out of context. I think it is more likely that Rick Warren ties to be diplomatic in these situations where he interacts with the unsaved. Not my style , but it is not him becoming a Muslim either.

As for these churches allowing their church building to be used bu Muslims for Muslim worship services , I disagree strongly with that. It may be just a building . But it is a building built with money given to God and pledged to be used for his glory.

Honestly , I don't prefer Rick Warren's style. My comfort zone is to pray the glory down and go out in the power of the Holy Spirit and take the persecution that comes head on. Rick Warren seems to be more about building bridges. I don't think that means that he has become a Muslim now.

Rick Warren signed a document published by Yale agreeing among other things that we need to "acknowledge" that Yahweh and Allah are the same being. You can see this document and the signatories at A Common Word - Rick Warren was not my only surprise.

I followed the link but could not find the document you referenced.

But I do think that it is a common error that many Christians believe that Yahweh and Allah are the same. The problem is that in the English , people see the word God or Lord which are actually general titles. The often quoted verse about Abraham's faith uses the personal name of God. So that it is clear in the Hebrew that faith in a higher power does not cut it. It is faith in the one true God of the Bible.

I have noticed that this false teaching to reject the Old Testament as relevant for the church is leading to more serious errors over time. People simply redefine words like faith , prayer and even concepts like hell or heaven. They neglect the fact that all of these concepts and words were established in the Old Testament first. You can hardly get through a chapter of the New Testament without it quoting or using the Old Testament in some way to build it's theology.

It reminds me of the movement in the States for separation of church and state. they say that prayer in public settings is unconstitutional and yet when the constitution was written , the men who wrote it began each session with public prayer. It is impossible to think that the men who opened with prayer wrote the constitution with the intent of forbiding that very prayer.

Even so , with the Old Testament. The apostles who founded the church referenced the Old Testament over and over and over. They counted it as scripture which is profitable for doctrine and instruction on how to live as a Christian. Paul here is speaking about the Old Testament here. Her says that not only is The Old Testament able to bring a person to salvation. It is also good for establishing doctrine and teaching us how to live as Christians.

My point is , those who study the entire word of God carefully will not make the mistake of thinking that Allah is the same God as the God of the Bible.

I'm new to Christian Forums. I have to google "calvanist" and "Rick Warren" to follow the thread. Let God judge each person. Let's not throw stones. Seriously, in the way you judge another, you shall be judged, to quote Jesus.

Okay, I'll remember that if I find myself signing my name to syncretism, I will be judged.

Not a problem for those who live the word and judge according to it. Study the subject a little further.

1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? 2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? 4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. 5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? After taking some time to pray about it , I am getting a check in my spirit. Rick Warren has something off about him. Thank you for the warning in this thread. It is subtle , but something is way off.
