He is one of my favorite CCM artists and I know he went to be with God 3 years ago and near the time of his passing, he was considering becoming Catholic. Can anyone tell me more about this? I listened to his song "Sometimes By Step" earlier and it is so beautiful. Thanks all!

Yes, its true. In fact, he was returning to Wichita, KS to make his first confession and become a confirmed Catholic when the accident occured.

From what I heard he was very taken with the Catholic Church and had been working through RCIA with a local priest and was ready to become Catholic.

I have friends who were really into his music and said that there were "hints" in some of the songs that he in fact was exploring the church.

Rich was a very special talent & its a tragedy that he was taken so soon,but God was a calling & Im sure Rich more than willing to go home. He was very touched by the life of St Francis(even to the point of contemplating giving his pay from recording & touring to the poor etc).
