  2. The forums in the Christian Congregations category are now open only to Christian members. Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  3. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  4. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  5. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.
  7. There has been an addition to the announcement regarding unacceptable nick names. The phrase "Let's go Brandon" actually stands for a profanity and will be seen as a violation of the profanity rule in the future.

Just having another reading of these verses, been going over the verses again lately, but looking at verses 6:12-6:14 it sounds like to me some kind a immensely powerful weapon of mass destruction.

When looking at the following verses 6:15-6:16, it almost sounds like some kind of bunker that people are hiding in?

I don't know if many recall, but back in 2018 (can google this), but there is a article on the internet "Nuclear Bomb Test Moved North Korea Mountain"

Makes you wonder if these verses could be a reference to some kind of WMD, just how powerful is it?
We teamed up with Faith Counseling. Can they help you today?

"And on this day it was that the Romans slew all the multitude that appeared openly; but on the following days they searched the hiding-places, and fell upon those that were under ground, and in the caverns..."

"...and leaped down from their battlements before they came to an engagement, and fled away into the subterranean caverns of the temple..."

Zechariah 14:12 also with the dissolving of flesh, eyes, tongue instantaneously while still standing on their feet -

And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.

12And when I saw the Lamb open the sixth seal, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black like sackcloth of goat hair, and the whole moon turned blood red, 13and the stars of the sky fell to the earth like unripe figs dropping from a tree shaken by a great wind. 14The sky receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved from its place.

is the power of God doing this.

I know that reference, and what comes to my mind when thinking of this reference is some kind of Enhanced Radiation Weapon.

Before you get too far out with speculation involving man's weapons of destruction, consider how man's technology can't compare to God's consuming fire that is one day going to burn up all of man's works off this earth (2 Peter 3:10-12). There's to be a great shaking that goes with that also, per the end of Hebrews 12.

Revelation 6 12-17 anticipates a passage near the end of Rev, when God comes in judgement: Revelation 20:11 Then I saw a great white throne and the One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence, and no place was found for them.

The “not being found” of geographical features, is presumably a sign that the passages that say they are not found, are to be understood as indicating that God has come as Judge.

The similarity to the passage in Josephus, may conceivably be evidence that Rev shows knowledge of Josephus’ Jewish War. This is consistent with a Domitianic date for Rev, in whole or part.

IMHO, Rev 6 12-17 is Saint John’s adaptation, for his own purposes in writing this book, of passages in Isaiah 2 & Hosea 10. The prophecy is in both books a declaration of woe & judgement, against the inhabitants of, respectively, Israel & Judah.

“…7Samaria will be carried off with her king like a twig on the surface of the water. 8The high placesof Avenwill be destroyed—it is the sinof Israel;thornsand thistleswill overgrowtheir altars. Then they will sayto the mountains,“Cover us!”and to the hills,“Fallon us!”9Since the days of Gibeah you have sinned, O Israel, and there you have remained. Did not the battle in Gibeah overtake the sons of iniquity?…”

Hosea 10:8 The high places of Aven will be destroyed--it is the sin of Israel; thorns and thistles will overgrow their altars. Then they will say to the mountains, "Cover us!" and to the hills, "Fall on us!"

    Luke 23.30 also echoes Isa. 2 // Hosea 10.8.

The motif of hiding from God the Judge is found in Gen. 3.8. The awe-full-ness, for human beings, of encountering God, is found throughout much of the Bible, as in Isaiah 6, Ezekiel 1, and Rev 1.12-20, not forgetting Josh 5 & Judg 13.

The “destructiveness” of God’s Holiness is hinted at in Exodus 33:

“So the LORD said to Moses, “I will do this very thing you have asked, for you have found favor in My sight, and I know you by name.”

18Then Moses said, “Please show me Your glory.”
19“I will cause all My goodness to pass before you,” the LORD replied, “and I will proclaim My name—the LORD—in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

20But He added, “You cannot see My face, for no one can see Me and live.”

21The LORD continued, “There is a place near Me where you are to stand upon a rock, 22and when My glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by. 23Then I will take My hand away, and you will see My back; but My face must not be seen.””.

    - & 34:

28So Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.

29And when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was unaware that his face had become radiant from speaking with the LORD. 30Aaron and all the Israelites looked at Moses, and behold, his face was radiant. And they were afraid to approach him....”.

Rev 6 12-17 is not about anything made by human science, but about the effects upon sinful men of “the terror of the LORD”, as in Isaiah 2:

    10Go into the rocks
    and hide in the dust
from the terror of the LORD
and the splendor of His majesty.
11The proud look of man will be humbled,
    and the loftiness of men brought low;
the LORD alone will be exalted in that day....
17So the pride of man will be brought low,
    and the loftiness of men will be humbled;
the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,
18and the idols will vanish completely.
19Men will flee to caves in the rocks
    and holes in the ground,
away from the terror of the LORD
and from the splendor of His majesty,
when He rises to shake the earth....”

A mention of “shaking the Earth” occurs in Haggai:

6For this is what the LORD of Hosts says:
“Once more, in a little while,
I will shake the heavens and the earth,
the sea and the dry land.
7I will shake all the nations,
and they will come with all their treasures,
and I will fill this house with glory,
    says the LORD of Hosts.
8The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,
    declares the LORD of Hosts.
9The latter glory of this house
will be greater than the former,
    says the LORD of Hosts.
And in this place I will provide peace,
    declares the LORD of Hosts.””.
