Dick Cheney has just endorsed Harris over Trump.

Dick Cheney says he will vote for Harris in 2024 and issues stark warning about Trump

Another well-known name has joined the expanding list of conservatives casting a ballot for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris in 2024: former Vice President Dick Cheney.

"In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump," Cheney, a Republican who served as the No. 2 to President George W. Bush, said in a statement on Friday.

"He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again," added Cheney, a controversial figure himself during a decades-long government career that includes roles leading the Pentagon, as White House chief of staff and serving as a Republican leader in the U.S. House.

Dick Cheney's statement on Friday endorsing Harris alluded to the events surrounding Jan. 6. "As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution," he said. "That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris."

They are of the ilk who undid the successes of Ronald Reagan and perpetual wars and immigration crises result from their “expertise”. They may actually be worse than the demos but their superficial conservatism makes them seem palatable as good “patriots”.

You still don't get the point do you?

It's disturbing that nearly 50% of our country's population believe their "cause" overrides the Consutituion.

@Bradskii made some very good points about them voting against Trump and you are still missing the argument. Democrats are not lauding their policies, they are appreciating their stance against Trump.

I’m looking through the chapter in project 2025 on reorganization of the Office of Management & Budget ( OMB). It all appears to be internal administrative reorganization alongside standard policy of budget proposals to congress.

There is one section though that is probably being exposed as extremist. It involves abolishing a gender issue agency that was set up by an executive order. So, I would think it is within the power of an acting to reverse a prior executive order. I can’t paste the paragraph on my iPhone 5 but it is in this link & I don’t have time to further go on this right now

The VP has the support of militarist oriented think tanks like the Atlantic Council.

An Atlantic Council member has a happy account of his work with the VP.

These groups dominate the headlines and often indicate how helpful they are in tackling problems in the world. Yet the world seems to be getting more chaotic, deadly, internationalist etc. But hey, the VP is good for business & the old interventionist types have definitely gotten hip & progressive in the eyes of many.

For the 3rd (or 4th?) time: It isn't about policy.

We were spending ~6%GDP on the military, after the USSR invaded Afghanistan, we were armed to the teeth. It’s easy to not have wars when they’re ready for one.

Now we’re at “only” 3.5%, still that’s $800ish billion.

The main problem with Project 2025 with regard to the Civil Service, is that it appears to bring back the discredited use of “patronage“, to “reward” supporters with jobs, and that all employees would serve at the pleasure of the President and s/he could fire any one of them for being disloyal to that President.

Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales Will Support Kamala Harris

"As the United States approaches a critical election, I can’t sit quietly as Donald Trump — perhaps the most serious threat to the rule of law in a generation — eyes a return to the White House. For that reason, though I’m a Republican, I’ve decided to support Kamala Harris for president.

The character of the person we elect in November is particularly important today because the current members of the House of Representatives and the Senate have proven spectacularly incapable or unwilling to check abuses of executive power.
While the U.S. Supreme Court is certainly capable of curbing presidential power, the court has recently ruled that certain restraints on presidential acts would be unconstitutional. The court held that when exercising core constitutional powers, the president enjoys complete immunity from criminal prosecution; it also ruled that when engaging in an official act the president enjoys presumptive immunity. Acts that are unrelated to the president’s official duties can be prosecuted but the motivation behind a presidential decision may not be considered or questioned — which might allow a president to take official actions for personal, self-serving reasons."

After the fall of Soviet communism, there was great hope for a “peace dividend”. Well that was an unfulfilled hope and Prez Bush the first began the modern spiral downward with war on Iraq in 1990.

Former Tarrant County Judge Glenn Whitley — a life-long member of the Republican Party who served from 2007 to 2022 — has been one of Texas’ most prominent Republicans.

And as the November elections approach, he sounded a warning: He is voting for Vice President Kamala Harris over former president Donald Trump, and while he’s announcing his break with the party publicly, he believes many Republicans will vote for Harris in secret.

“There are a lot, I think,” Whitley said. “They’re afraid to come out, because when they do, they get ridiculed and they get bullied and they get belittled."

Whitley — who also said he also was rejecting Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and voting for Democrat and former NFL player Colin Allred — believes Trump still will win Texas, but said disenfranchised GOP voters might help swing other battleground states to Harris.
