I never wrote nor meant to imply that we can repent or change by our own abilities/strength. Grace to do so only comes via the atoning blood of Jesus and by the subsequent indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Not under their own natural moral abilities without God's help, they cant.
the word "if" there means BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT you have been made partakers with Christ. We are told:
“...We are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end.” (Hebrews 3:13-14).
"Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life." (Jude 1:21).
"...be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." (Revelation 2:10).
We are told to:
- Continue in the grace of God (Acts of the Apostles 13:43).
- Continue in the faith (Acts of the Apostles 14:22) (Colossians 1:23).
- Continue in his goodness, otherwise we can be cut off (just like the Jews were cut off) (Romans 11:21-22).
This does not sound automatic or forced to me as a part of being one of the Elect. We are told to continue in the faith, continue in His grace, continue in His goodness otherwise we can be cut off.
agreed regeneration must occur before one can believe and repentI never wrote nor meant to imply that we can repent or change by our own abilities/strength. Grace to do so only comes via the atoning blood of Jesus and by the subsequent indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
If you read Jn 17:6-12 carefully, you will notice that Judas along with the rest of the disciples were GIVEN to Jesus by the Father. No distinction is made between Judas and his cohorts except for the fact that he was lost. That fact that the Father "gave" Judas to Jesus shows that Judas was of the elect as the Father chooses whom He will save. Despite being of the elect, Judas was still lost because of his disobedience and betrayal which totally contradicts the false teaching of eternal security.Heres' why its off-topic. Jesus said all who the father has already given him he won't lose a single one of them except for Judas Iscariot. That means justification sets in a due course for glorification. Those God saves no one can pluck them out of his hands. no one who is truly saved will take the mark of the beast.
I would prefer not to be bashed for my beliefs. Thank you. And accused of twisting anything. The lost are meant to be found. Some just prefer to stay lost.

You also take Jn 10:28-29 out of context. Not being plucked out of the Father's hand refers only to those sheep who LISTEN and FOLLOW in v.27. Sheep who stray away from the Shepherd by not listening and following are not privy to the promises of v.28-29.

You seem to have a problem understanding the difference between truth statements with a works-based faith. You keep pushing ya gotta do this or ya lose yer salvation. THAT ISNT WHAT JESUS SAID. He said he would not lose a single one who the father had given him except for the son of perdition who was Judas Iscariot. When one is saved, the faith one has causes that one to do good works unto the end.
learn to stop using English grammar for a greek language, sir.Nope. "If" is a conditional clause. Look it up in the dictionary at Google.
The word Therefore means go back and find the context. Therefore in the Greek basically means "For this reason?" What reason? For the just stated reason put on the bowels of mrecyise kindness etc . But why ? See verse 1 of that chapter.
the elect of God are those who believe and that passage is about becoming sanctified and mature in the faith. In other words for the previous reasons, you as the elect of God are to put on the following things. This is about sanctification and becoming a mature believer.No. It is saying that we are to put on the Elect of God certain holy behaviors. If we were just automatically the Elect, Paul would never tell believers to put on certain qualities that the Elect have.

No thanks.
God's Word claims that it will be preserved for all generations (Psalms 12:7) and it will stand forever (Isaiah 40:8) (1 Peter 1:25).
"Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it." (Habakkuk 2:2).
No. Go back and read the verse. It says put therefore on certain holy qualities as the Elect of God. That is what it plainly says in the English.
A person needs truth behind their convictions John 15:6 While Hebrews 6 says that sins are not erased by going back and being saved all over again. But the faithful will lose rewards John 15:2 1 Corinthians 3:15The thread is about repentance but includes justification, sanctification, glorification, redemption and osas Guess rewards should be an acceptable topic also then.
WRONG all of you!!!!
agreed and when the holy spirit indwells he doesn't leave as God isnt an Indian giver. Salvation has been secured for those its been/being granted to.A person needs truth behind their convictions John 15:6 While Hebrews 6 says that sins are not erased by going back and being saved all over again. The work of the Father in His purpose is basic to security Ephesians 1:4, Hebrews 2:10 because it’s the power to save and to keep John 16:29, Romans 8:31-34 being also the promise of God john 3:16, John 5:13 because of His love Romans 5:7-9
Christ’s work is His provision Romans 5:8, Romans 8:1 as the author of eternal salvation Hebrews 5:8-9 It is finished, paid in full. His resurrection and ascension was the provision made for that security. Ephesians 2:6 And basic to our security is His position as our advocate Hebrews 9:24 where He pleads for the benefits and values of His blood and His work as the Shepard. John 10:27-28 ‘saved to the utmost Hebrews 7:25,
The Holy Spirit’s indwelling is also basic in building the temple of living stones, permanent and not temporary. Ephesians 2:22 because we have been baptized into Him 1 Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 5:27 in which Christians have the sealing work Ephesians 1:13-14 The Holy Spirit is God’s irremovable and identifying brand.
My point was that it’s not a matter of losing salvation but of losing rewards for those who have obtained salvation. Once accepted by God, thru propitiation, we can fall into a lesser inheritance than what was once an entitlement. I’m not talking about the lost but those found and having been brought back into the fold. They have the choice then of following law or grace, grace being the move of the Holy Spirit in one’s life, law following the deadness of the letter rather than the Spirit. They will lose like the Israelites did in coming short thru unbelief and lack of trust, yet the remnant will be saved.agreed and when the holy spirit indwells he doesn't leave as God isnt an Indian giver. Salvation has been secured for those its been/being granted to.
