Name: Ren Aldir
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 39
Height: 6’ 0’
Weight: 160
Description: Lean and obviously muscular, Ren has brown hair that hangs raggedly around his face. His eyes are brown and show more expression than you’d expect, but not a whole lot. His face is rather plain, not ugly but nothing remarkable. His jaw is almost always firmly set. He wears loose clothing for ease of movement, and always, always has a hood up, shadowing his features.
Personality: Ren has not known love of any kind in a long, long time. His one passion is the flashing knife; his only desire to be the perfect killer. He is an artist of death; striving to attain the greatest possible level of precision, the least possible level of passion. He is also a master of lies and pretense. But buried beneath this is a deep-seated remorse that he mistakes as weakness when he feels it at all. He has an aversion to killing children, a fact he tries to hide from himself by killing them anyway.
History: Ren’s mother died in childbirth when he was three, and his father raised him and his younger sister Ketelra. Ket and Ren were very close, but when their father began to frequent local taverns and come home drunk, Ren began to grow angry. When their father was drunk, he’d slap, yell, and beat them. When he was sober, he’d be sorry, and he really was, but then he’d go and get drunk again. The kids supported each other through it all, but as Ren grew older, he began to fight with their father, and one day he had a knife. The resulting violence culminated n the house being set on fire. Ren escaped, but not before he had plunged the knife into his father's chest. However, even as he watched the blazing house collapse inward, Ren realized that his sister was still in there, and the shock of it was more than his eleven-year-old mind could withstand. He vanished onto the streets, taking with him the bloodstained knife.
Ren became a killer. The rich, the poor, nobles, peasants—you name it, Ren murdered them. He killed for hire, and he killed for the sake of killing. He fancied himself the best at what he did, and he was lethal indeed. But one day he met the Ignatium lord Lodekai, and all his notions of being the best dimmed. For here was a man not only better at the art of death than he, but also free of the human feelings Ren was forced to accept. Ren volunteered to serve Lodekai with the intention of learning from him, and one day surpassing him. He envies and hates Lodekai for revealing his weakness, but he serves well, waiting for the day he will be strong enough to challenge his master.
