‘His divine power’ (2 Peter 1:3), , where does it come from, God, right? That’s right, that puts it right back on our plate for if truth be known – while we seem to be lacking that power, He still ‘has given us everything we need’ (V-3)!
So where is Peter’s clue, or where does mortal weakness fit in? I submit to you it is NOT wrapped up in acts, works or performances, for we need to secure the foundation for everything Peter is about to literally load us up with, ,
And that is precisely what this comes down to, the condition of our hearing for the literal reception of verses 5-7 qualities.
KJV, NKJV, NASB etc, all mislead the reader with ‘beside this’ or, ‘also’. Those such as the NIV seems the only plausible explanation:
‘Faith cometh by hearing’ and ‘faith’ is our clue. Foundational, because it is added to nothing, faith IS to be added to. From here we then can first proceed to protect that hearing from the thief.
The Hearing of Noise-V-Faith
‘Context’, handle it like a loaded gun when reading the hearing of faith. Context is the water you see when you are about to step out of the boat in faith. When the Lord said ‘Come, let us reason together.’, He wasn’t suggesting the reasoning of the depth of the water, but the invitation to believe – potentially, of great depth.
Now we can proceed to hear without distraction,
There it is, the literal man verses a godly listener. This may come as a surprise to some, but I am a believer of the hearing of faith due to a heart God created to be used in faith, not in endless contextual trappings, although this post may require to be re-read.
God bless!

For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:8)

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith, , “ (2 Peter 1:5)

We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. (1 John 4:6)
