Johnny Cash covered the Nine Inch Nails Song, Hurt.

Johnny Cash brings a poignancy to an already very emotional and sad song. I assume the gravitas comes from his experience as a singer, but also the much longer life of trouble.

IMO if a remake does not do something new or different, it is a waste of time and recording resources. Here is an interesting take on an old disco classic:

And of course some of those re-imagined songs are big hits:

Here is Rare Earth's version of Ray Charles' "What I'd Say"

and Earth Wind and Fire's rendition of the Beatles' hit:

And my all time favorite of the Chuck Berry classic:

or the re-working of the classics:

Taking the classics into the jazz age is one thing, but taking rock hits and doing them on classical instruments is quite another:

Nice intro ^_^ great solo too, its sounds like zack wylde playing it, but itd be
Impressed with dweezil if it was him (i havent heard him play before)

Speaking of the beegees, this cover is not everyones cup of tea, but stick around for the chorus to see how they handle it :)
