Johnny Cash covered the Nine Inch Nails Song, Hurt.

Johnny Cash brings a poignancy to an already very emotional and sad song. I assume the gravitas comes from his experience as a singer, but also the much longer life of trouble.

incredibly visceral. I think this cover had an impact on everyone that heard it, i know it did for me as well. Thanks for sharing

IMO if a remake does not do something new or different, it is a waste of time and recording resources. Here is an interesting take on an old disco classic:

Taking the classics into the jazz age is one thing, but taking rock hits and doing them on classical instruments is quite another:
