Israel: The Land of Refuge

In keeping the Sabbath, Israel is required to remember what they were brought out from, and also for what purpose.
Deuteronomy 5:15 And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
Deuteronomy 23:
15 You shall not give back to his master the slave who has escaped from his master to you.
16 He may dwell with you in your midst, in the place which he chooses within one of your gates, where it seems best to him; you shall not oppress him.

Israel and Christ: a place of refuge for everyone who escapes the bondage of slavery.

Jeremiah 16:19. O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge
in the day of affliction, the Nations shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

Isaiah 25:4. You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress,
a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like
a storm driving against a wall.

This can become a reversal of fortunes.

Isaiah 16:
1 Send the lamb to the ruler of the land, from Sela to the wilderness,
To the mount of the daughter of Zion.
2 For it shall be as a wandering bird thrown out of the nest;
So shall be the daughters of Moab at the fords of the Arnon.
3 Take counsel, execute judgment;
Make your shadow like the night in the middle of the day;
Hide the outcasts, Do not betray him who escapes.
4 Let My outcasts dwell with you, O Moab;
Be a shelter to them from the face of the spoiler.
For the extortioner is at an end,
Devastation ceases,
The oppressors are consumed out of the land.
5 In mercy the throne will be established;
And One will sit on it in truth, in the tabernacle of David,
Judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.
