SONNET TO DENIS
While sitting there in Church one winter's day
I got the shock of me life as a hand
Gripped me shoulder as I started to pray
I shot forward, didn' t know where I'd land,
And then a voice from heav'n came loud and clear
"Mornin luv"........ I'd reached me destination,
The place we're headed for that we hold dear,
It was the Good Lord, I felt elation,
I couldn't have been in a better place,
Though I hadn't expected it so soon,
I thought I heard angels singing, me face
Must have been a picture shining in the gloom
But then I came to very suddenly
'Twas only Denis warmly greeting me!
