The gospel is the most important....but there is action called for too:
NASB from blueletterbible.org
Mat 25:34
¶“Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
Mat 25:35
‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me
something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me
something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;
Mat 25:36
naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’
Mat 25:37
“Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You
something to drink?
Mat 25:38
‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You?
Mat 25:39
‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’
Mat 25:40
“The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine,
even the least
of them, you did it to Me.’
Eph 4:25¶
Therefore, laying aside falsehood, SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE
of you WITH HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are members of one another.
Eph 4:26
BE ANGRY, AND
yet DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger,
Eph 4:27
and do not give the devil
Eph 4:28
He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have
something to share with
Eph 4:29
Let no [fn]unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such
a word as is good for edification [fn]according to the need
of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.
Eph 4:30
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,
Eph 4:31
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
Eph 4:32
Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven [fn]you.
Well, I could quote all of Ephesians. This is the verse I used to describe my father at his funeral:
Mic 6:8
He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of you
But to do justice, to love [fn]kindness,
And to walk [fn]humbly with your God?
I think we are discussing the difference between a preacher and a pastor. A preacher preaches the gospel which is great - but does not pastor. A pastor preaches but also is a shepherd, caring for the flock.
